The shape of the nose, like the shape of the eyes, comes in many different forms.
Depending on its length, height, and shape, the nose is located at the center of the face, so it has a major impact on appearance.
Among them, a short nose, which is common among East Asians,
is often called a upturned nose or pig nose, and can easily give a plain impression.
It can also make it difficult to have a positive image because the balance of the facial features is disrupted,
and it has also been considered one of the nose shapes disliked in physiognomy because it is said to let wealth escape.
A short nose can be caused by small nasal bones or cartilage,
and it tends to reduce facial depth, making the face appear flat.

Also, whether the nostrils are highly exposed from the front like an upturned nose,
whether the alar cartilage at the tip is raised upward,
or whether the nose is simply short in length,
identifying the characteristics of the nose and performing the appropriate surgery
is necessary to achieve clear improvement and highly satisfying results.
These types of noses can be improved by raising the low starting point of the nose using implants or autologous tissue,
so today we will take a detailed look at surgery methods for a short nose :D
A Short Nose Common Among East Asians

As mentioned earlier, a short nose refers to a nose whose length is shorter than one-third of the entire face and is turned up,
causing the nostrils to be highly visible from the front, commonly called an upturned nose.
It also includes a shortened nose caused by bulbous contracture, one of the side effects after nasal surgery.
For this type of nose, not only the height but also the length needs to be improved together,
and if only an implant is used without correction, the nose can become even shorter and appear more upturned,
which makes it one of the more difficult nose surgeries.
If the alar cartilage at the tip of the nose points upward, the tip may look upturned and the nose may appear shorter.
In such cases, it can be improved with cartilage surgery.
By removing the upper portion of the tip alar cartilage and moving it downward to fix it in place,
the height of the tip can be lowered and the length can also be increased!
A Short Nose Can Also Be Made Beautiful!

At DM Plastic Surgery, through sufficient consultation with medical staff specializing in eye and nose surgery,
whose expertise has been proven through extensive clinical experience and know-how,
we directly perform 1:1 customized rhinoplasty tailored to each person’s preferences and nose condition.
By accurately assessing the current condition and applying the appropriate surgical method, clear improvement is possible.
Considering the overall proportions, harmony, and angle, we help improve the image with the most ideal nose.
In addition, 3D-CT analysis allows for a safer and more three-dimensional evaluation,
and we establish an accurate surgical plan by examining not only what can be seen in a general consultation,
but also the internal structure, muscle layer, and skin tissue condition.
Surgical Methods by Short Nose Type

When the alar cartilage that forms the tip of the nose is raised upward,
part of the upper alar cartilage is removed through cartilage surgery
to lower its position and correct it.

If correction is difficult with the cartilage surgery mentioned above,
a portion of the alar cartilage is removed and septal cartilage grafting is performed in between
to lengthen the tip of the nose.

After correcting the short nose length with the two surgical methods described above,
this method uses implants and autologous cartilage to correct the length and height of the nasal bridge and tip.
Since there are various methods, identifying the condition and problems of the nose is the most important part.
To achieve highly satisfying results, the surgery must be performed with the method best suited to the individual,
and because it leads to clear improvement, we recommend visiting our clinic and receiving sufficient consultation from medical staff with extensive clinical experience.
