<Real rhinoplasty case from DM Plastic Surgery>
The shape of the nose, like the shape of the eyes, comes in many different forms.
Depending on its length, height, and shape, the nose sits at the center of the face, so it has a
major impact on appearance.
Among these, the short nose commonly seen in East Asians
is often called an upturned nose or pig nose, and it can easily give a rustic impression.
It can also make it difficult to create a positive image because it disrupts the balance of the facial features,
and it has also been considered one of the nose shapes disliked in physiognomy because it is said to let wealth slip away.
A short nose is caused when the nasal bone or cartilage is small,
and it can make the face look flatter by reducing facial dimension.

Also, whether it is an upturned nose with a lot of nostril exposure from the front,
whether the alar cartilage at the tip is turned upward,
or whether it is simply a short nose,
it is necessary to identify the nose’s characteristics and perform the appropriate surgery
in order to achieve clear improvement and highly satisfying results.
These types of noses can be improved by using implants or autologous tissue
to raise the low starting point of the nose, so today
we will take a detailed look at the surgery methods for a short nose :D
A Short Nose Common in East Asians

As mentioned earlier, a short nose refers to a nose whose length is shorter than one-third of the entire face
and is upturned, exposing the nostrils prominently from the front.
It also includes a nose that has become shortened due to contracture, one of the complications after rhinoplasty.
For this type of nose, both the height and the length need to be improved,
and if only an implant is used without correction, it may become even shorter and look more upturned,
making it one of the more difficult surgeries compared with other types of rhinoplasty.
If the alar cartilage at the tip is pointing upward, the tip may look upturned and the nose may appear shorter.
In that case, it can be improved with cartilage surgery.
By removing part of the upper portion of the alar cartilage at the tip and then moving it downward to fix it in place,
the tip height can be lowered and the length can be increased!
A short nose can become beautiful too!

At DM Plastic Surgery, through sufficient consultation with specialist eye and nose surgeons whose expertise has been proven through extensive clinical experience and know-how,
we personally perform 1:1 customized rhinoplasty tailored to each individual’s preferences and nasal condition.
By accurately understanding the current condition and applying the appropriate surgical method, clear improvement is possible,
and we help improve the overall image by considering balance, harmony, and angle to create the most ideal nose.
In addition, 3D-CT analysis allows for safer and more three-dimensional evaluation,
and we establish an accurate surgical plan by assessing internal structures, muscle layers, and skin tissue conditions
that cannot be confirmed through a general consultation.
Short Nose Surgery Methods by Type

When the alar cartilage that forms the tip of the nose is raised upward,
part of the upper alar cartilage is removed through cartilage surgery
and the position is corrected by moving it downward.

If correction is difficult with the cartilage surgery described above,
a portion of the alar cartilage is removed and septal cartilage grafting is placed between the remaining parts
to lengthen the tip of the nose.

After correcting the short nose’s length with the two surgical methods described above,
this method uses implants and autologous cartilage to correct the length and height of the nasal bridge and tip.
Since there are multiple methods available, it is most important to identify the condition of the nose and the underlying problem.
A procedure tailored to each individual is needed to achieve highly satisfying results,
and because it leads to clear improvement, we recommend visiting our clinic and receiving sufficient consultation
with our experienced specialist medical team.
