[Eyefit Plastic Surgery] Complete Checklist of Precautions Before Double Eyelid Surgery!

If you are considering surgery or preparing for it,

you may be wondering what kind of preparation is needed before surgery.

Shall we check the precautions you should know before surgery together? 🤗

Before surgery, please let us know about any medications you are currently taking or any past medical history.

In particular, if you have a history of or have had surgery for diseases related to the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, or brain,

have experience with cancer treatment,

or have drug allergies, chronic conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes,

and in the case of the eyes, whether you have had conjunctivitis or a stye,

be sure to inform the hospital!

Also, medications such as aspirin-based drugs, herbal medicine, birth control pills, hormone medications,

vitamin E, omega-3, Plavix, and Coumadin

should be stopped at least one week before surgery.

This is because these medications can cause bleeding

or delay wound healing. 😢

If food remains in your stomach, it can be dangerous during sedation anesthesia!

If sedation anesthesia will be used, you should fast for 6 hours before surgery,

including water.

Also, it is best to avoid salty foods that can cause facial swelling :)

You should avoid drinking and smoking for one week before surgery and for one month after surgery.

Alcohol and smoking lower the body's immunity and interfere with blood circulation,

which can cause inflammation and slow wound healing. 😢

Cosmetic ingredients can cause inflammation after surgery,

so after washing your face, you should come with makeup removed, including lotion and sunscreen, except for toner.

Also, because dermatitis can occur on the day of surgery,

you should avoid double eyelid tape, glue, eyelid stickers, and similar products for one month before surgery.

Treatments such as eyelash extensions can also interfere with surgery and cause inflammation,

so we recommend receiving them only after you have fully recovered!

During sedation anesthesia, a sensor that measures oxygen saturation is attached to the fingernail to check the patient's condition,

and nail polish or pedicure on the nails can make accurate oxygen saturation measurement difficult.

Therefore, please avoid pedicure/manicure on the day of surgery!

If you are wearing metal items that touch the skin (necklaces, rings, earrings),

you may get burned by the hemostatic equipment during surgery! Also, contact lenses can cause dry eyes

and carry a risk of infection, so wearing them is not allowed.

On the day of surgery, avoid wearing stockings and come in clothing that is easy to remove.

Clothes that are difficult to take off, such as turtlenecks or hoodies, can touch the surgical area during removal

and cause bleeding.

Also, it is a good idea to bring a hat or sunglasses to cover swollen eyes after surgery,

and because safe driving may be difficult due to sedation anesthesia,

it is better to leave your car behind and use public transportation :)
