Hello.
This is Barun Young Dental Clinic.
Barun Young Dental Clinic at Yaksu Station, Jung-gu
Our director, Kim Tae-young, a specialist in comprehensive dentistry,
was invited to participate in an advisory interview again on August 20 on MBC’s live broadcast Good Morning, following our connection from a previous advisory interview.

This episode dealt with the unfortunate death of a patient due to the excessive administration of anesthetic during dental treatment.
It addressed problems arising from overtreatment at large-scale, deep-discount dental clinics—an issue that has been raised for many years.

The problem occurred while treating a patient who had traveled to Seoul from another region for treatment, with conscious sedation, commonly referred to as sleep dentistry.
The issue was that the amount of anesthetic used exceeded the standard dosage.
We believe this may be one of the problems associated with large-scale, deep-discount dental clinics, where it is difficult to provide patients with calm, unhurried care.

Marketing based on low treatment fees has long been criticized.
It would be wonderful if thorough treatment could be provided at an affordable price, but when expensive rent, labor costs, and other fixed expenses are taken into account, this is unlikely to be the reality at most clinics.
Fortunately, many patients complete their treatment successfully. However, when problems arise, some are unable to receive an appropriate response or proper follow-up care because the hospital is busy.
As a result, they have no choice but to seek treatment again at a local neighborhood dental clinic. We often meet such patients at our clinic as well.

The treatment philosophy of Barun Young Dental Clinic at Yaksu Station is that diagnoses cannot always be the same.
Even when symptoms are identical,
there are many factors to consider, including the patient’s overall physical condition, oral condition, and dental health.
Therefore, we make a diagnosis and provide treatment according to each individual situation.
We have recently heard about another similar incident.
Whenever we meet people who have suffered harm, it is deeply unfortunate,
and we hope that this situation in the dental industry will change as soon as possible.
