For a long time, women have drawn eyeliner, applied shadow, and used mascara to make their eyes look darker and larger. As with makeup techniques, eye plastic surgery is something many people also consider. There are various types of eye plastic surgery to make the eyes look more attractive, such as double eyelid surgery, epicanthoplasty, canthoplasty, lower canthoplasty, and under-eye fat repositioning.
Double eyelid surgery is the most basic and popular of all eye plastic surgeries. The change from monolid eyes to double eyelid eyes is bigger than expected, and most women who have undergone this surgery are quite satisfied.

There are broadly two methods of double eyelid surgery: the incision method and the suture method. The partial-incision method, which was popular in the 1990s, is no longer in the spotlight because fat removal is limited and it can leave scattered scars.

Compared with the suture method, the incision method has swelling that lasts longer and the red incision line may remain visible for several months, but it can firmly remove sagging skin and excess fat, and it allows precise eyelid correction. That is why it is the surgical method preferred by plastic surgery specialists with skilled hands. A red scar line may be visible for some time, but it usually improves as time passes, and there are fewer cases where more scarring remains than expected.

The suture method creates a double eyelid by making only about 3 to 4 needle holes and passing the thread through the conjunctival side after turning the eyelid over, so swelling is less than with the incision method and recovery is faster. However, because sagging skin cannot be removed, loosening may occur after a short time if there is sagging skin or a lot of eyelid fat. The number of people who can undergo double eyelid surgery with the suture method is quite limited.

Therefore, rather than fixating on a vague fantasy about the suture method or only negative impressions of the incision method, it is important to receive an accurate diagnosis from a plastic surgery specialist and choose the method that suits each person's eye condition.
