Conjunctival edema after lateral canthoplasty usually lasts about 2 to 3 weeks, and in more than 90% of cases it is absorbed enough within a month that it does not interfere with daily life.

However, in about 10% of patients, conjunctival edema can last for 2 to 3 months, or it may disappear and then suddenly become severely swollen again.

In the photo above, you can see that for about 2 weeks after lateral canthoplasty, the conjunctival edema was quite severe, and then after about 3 weeks to a month, it almost disappeared. Of course, this is only one other case, so keep in mind that there are also people for whom it lasts much longer.

Every plastic surgery has cases where the results are especially good. In epicanthoplasty as well, there are definitely cases where the effect is maximized depending on the shape and thickness of the Mongolian fold.

In the case of lateral canthoplasty, the shape of the lower eyelid line, the raised shape of the outer corner, and the degree of eye protrusion determine the success of the procedure.

Eyes for which lateral canthoplasty, or lowering of the outer corner of the eye, is effective are eyes that are not protruding too much or too sunken, in other words, eyes with a moderate degree of protrusion rather than excessively protruding eyes or severely sunken eyes. The outer corner line should not be continuously raised from the beginning to the end, but rather should run horizontally and then rise sharply after passing the outer edge of the black pupil. These are the eyes for which lateral canthoplasty is most effective.
