What is entropion?

A condition in which excess skin on the upper or lower eyelid causes the eyelashes to curl inward toward the eyeball

The reason entropion is clinically important is not so much that the eyelashes themselves scratch the eyeball and cause injury, but rather that the eyelashes touching the eyeball cause irritation, leading people to keep rubbing their eyes with their hands, which creates a more serious problem.
