Women will probably know about lower canthoplasty and may have shown interest in it at least once.
As the name suggests, it is a surgery that naturally lowers the area under the eyes
to make the eyes look larger and more open.
What makes it different from other canthoplasty procedures is that, unlike medial canthoplasty or lateral canthoplasty,
it does not widen the eyes by directly making an incision in the skin and opening it up,
but instead makes the eyes look bigger by pulling the muscle layer downward.
Because of this, there is a slight possibility of recurrence compared with other canthoplasty procedures,
but since there are no visible scars and the surgery is relatively simple,
it has drawn a lot of interest.

For this kind of lower canthoplasty to succeed,
the horizontal length of the eyes should first be somewhat long.
If the eyes are too short, there is a limit to how much they can be lowered with lower canthoplasty,
and in many cases they do not come down in a smooth shape, which can leave some disappointment.
Another important factor is the aegyo filler under the eyes.
To successfully perform lower canthoplasty, it is better to dissolve the aegyo filler or remove any foreign material in that area.
If filler or foreign material under the aegyo sal is supporting the area beneath the eyes too firmly,
a naturally lowered under-eye shape will be difficult to achieve.
That is why it is important to remember that aegyo filler can have a negative effect on the results of lower canthoplasty.

This patient had received filler in the aegyo sal area before surgery,
so on the day of surgery, the filler was dissolved immediately before the operation and the procedure was carried out.
Fortunately, because it was hyaluronic acid filler, it could be easily dissolved after a simple injection,
which made the surgery proceed smoothly,
and the under-eye area was nicely lowered after surgery, producing a good result.
In some cases, non-dissolvable semi-permanent filler, foreign material, or fat grafting may have been done,
so the foreign material in the aegyo sal area may need to be scraped out and removed for surgery.
Checking any previous procedures or surgeries in advance
can also help make lower canthoplasty faster and more accurate.

Aegyo filler can make the eye condition unsuitable for lower canthoplasty,
but even if lower canthoplasty is somehow performed,
it can also make the lowered area open back up more easily.
So if you are going to have lower canthoplasty,
the condition of the aegyo sal area should be returned as naturally as possible to its previous state before surgery.
