[Lari Plastic Surgery] Removing an Overly Outer-Corner Double Eyelid Line with Epicanthoplasty

Whether the inner corner of the eye is open or closed,

some people think that if the double eyelid is removed, an entirely outer-line double eyelid will be pulled fully inward, and they say that the front part of the double eyelid line was not removed after surgery to eliminate the double eyelid.

Surgery to remove a double eyelid is not a cure-all.

Although the double eyelid and the epicanthoplasty area are connected, they are different areas, so one surgery cannot produce results in both areas.

When the inner corner side has been excessively opened by epicanthoplasty and the double eyelid is completely opened outward,

even if the double eyelid is removed, the front line does not disappear completely, so the front part of the eye remains in an outer line while the double eyelid is gone, and the surgery does not produce the desired shape.

In cases like this, there are two ways to move the front double eyelid line inward.

1. Remove the double eyelid while restoring the epicanthoplasty area
2. Remove the double eyelid while performing revision epicanthoplasty

If the epicanthoplasty has been overdone and the lacrimal caruncle is highly exposed,

you should remove the double eyelid while performing epicanthoplasty restoration surgery, as in case 1. However,

in the eye condition shown above, the lacrimal caruncle exposure is not very large,

so as in case 2, the double eyelid can be naturally removed while performing revision epicanthoplasty.

Through surgery to remove the double eyelid, the thick-looking double eyelid line became thinner, and revision epicanthoplasty opened the lacrimal caruncle more instead of the double eyelid line, so the removed section of the double eyelid, continuing from the front line to the back, was connected naturally.

In fact, to pull the front line completely inward, epicanthoplasty restoration would be the right approach, but if the front line is pulled inward and completely closed off through epicanthoplasty restoration,

the space between the eyebrows may become wider, and rather than the clarity achieved by removing the double eyelid, it may make the eyes feel more constricted.

So after consultation, revision epicanthoplasty and surgery to remove the double eyelid were performed together.

The front line is still slightly visible,

so it is difficult to say that the double eyelid removal surgery created a complete monolid,

but the front double eyelid line, which had been exposed outwardly, has clearly changed to look thinner and more natural.
