[Lari Plastic Surgery] Double Eyelid Removal Surgery: From Short-Term Recovery to Long-Term Progress

After having double eyelid removal surgery,

patients fall into two reactions.

The first is when the original double eyelids were too thick,

and right after surgery they feel as if the double eyelids have disappeared completely,

which makes them surprised.

The second is when the double eyelids were not that thick,

but they disliked having double eyelids and had surgery,

and because of swelling there is no difference between before and immediately after surgery,

which makes them surprised.

In fact, once recovery is completely finished, they reach the same conclusion, but the progress felt along the way can cause worry and anxiety, so it is helpful to get a rough sense of the course in advance through before-and-after photos ^^

The patient above had previously undergone double eyelid surgery, but felt that the line was thicker than expected and did not match their own image, so they wanted a monolid and came to the clinic to have double eyelid removal surgery.

Double eyelid removal surgery is performed with an incision, and compared with double eyelid surgery that creates a higher crease line, it does not cause much swelling, but on days 1 to 2 after surgery, a certain degree of swelling appears in the eyelids.

If there was a lot of bleeding during surgery, or if the patient has especially fair and thin skin, there may also be significant bruising around the surgical area.

After suture removal on day 6, you can feel that the swelling goes down faster than when the stitches were in place.

(The speed of swelling recovery varies from person to person.)

Although the patient had undergone double eyelid removal surgery, at the two-week mark, it still feels as though the line is slightly visible because of the incision scar. At this stage, it is important to keep practicing opening the eyes clearly while pulling the chin in and without using the forehead or eyebrows.

As the incision scar heals and the swelling completely goes down, the eyes became a complete monolid.

For those who worry that double eyelids might come back again over time, a long-term follow-up of more than 5 years is a good example. If you have a habit of rubbing your eyes often or using the forehead or eyebrow muscles a lot, there is theoretically a sufficient possibility of recurrence. That is why, in order to maintain a good condition for a long time, patients’ own aftercare is also important.
