Patients like this often use their forehead when opening their eyes, so the skin stretches easily and a double eyelid line forms. As a result, the double eyelid appears differently depending on the amount of swelling that day or how much the forehead is being used.

When looking at the constantly changing state of the double eyelid line, although it is not yet an eyelid fold that has been there for a long time and the line is not clearly established, if left as it is, a deep double eyelid could form, so this patient, who wanted monolids, underwent double eyelid removal surgery.

This kind of double eyelid line is not a double eyelid that has formed on an established eyelid crease; rather, it is a line that seems like it is about to become a double eyelid above the crease. So when releasing the adhesions inside, even deeper adhesions than before must be properly released for the double eyelid to disappear.

In double eyelid removal surgery, releasing the adhesive tissue between the skin and muscle is very important, so it is mostly performed as an incision-based surgery, and depending on the need, a small amount of eye correction may also be added.

Usually, when surgery is performed to create complete monolids, the eyes tend to become slightly smaller than before the surgery, though not always. However, in this case, even though complete monolids were created, the eyes became barely smaller, and it can be confirmed that only the double eyelid disappeared completely. It has now been one year, and the removed double eyelid has not returned and is being maintained well.
