[Rari Plastic Surgery] Facial Fat Grafting (Forehead, Cheeks) Before-and-After Photos: 1-Week Progress

When the contours of the face are very sharply angular, or when there is too much flesh and the face looks overly full,

it does not photograph very attractively.

On the other hand, if the face has too little flesh,

a person can look gaunt, tired, or as if the face is long.

In such cases, we perform facial fat grafting

to fill in and support the hollow areas, reduce the facial contours,

and change the facial shape to alter the overall impression.

Looking at these photos, the forehead drops straight down in a flat line,

making the brow bone appear slightly prominent, which gives it less of a feminine image.

But when volume is added by filling in fat,

the facial line becomes smoother and the overall impression looks rounder and softer.

In this patient’s case, she naturally had very little facial flesh,

and her facial skeleton was slender, so her face was an oval shape that looked long vertically.

Usually, even if fat is grafted into the cheeks, the face can end up looking wider by accident,

so fat is often grafted mainly into the front cheek area to enhance only volume and dimensionality.

However, this patient had so little flesh in the side cheeks that her face looked long,

so fat was also added to the side cheeks to compensate for the elongated facial shape.

We deliberately matched the face length in the photos,

and it is clear that compared with before surgery,

the face looks shorter after surgery.

With cheek fat grafting surgery, we enhanced not only the side volume of the face

but also the front volume of the cheeks, adding more dimensionality.

Even though the preoperative side-view photo is partially obscured by mosaic blur, you can still sense that the face looks flat and plain,

but in the side-view photo taken 1 week after surgery,

the forehead through the cheek area has clearly gained dimensionality,

which looks better.

If the face simply becomes fuller because of weight gain,

it is impossible to add fullness only to the desired areas,

so it is not possible to make the facial line look attractive.

In addition, fat may also accumulate under the lower jaw, creating a double chin,

or increase in areas that are actually less flattering.

That is why delicate fat grafting surgery is needed

to add only the desired amount to the desired areas.
