[Rari Plastic Surgery] Medial Canthoplasty Reoperation, Lateral Canthoplasty: Short-Term Progress on the Day of Stitch Removal Before and After Surgery

Unlike double-eyelid surgery, canthoplasty does not cause severe swelling.

(It depends on the case, but for the most part, that is true^^)

So many people think it is a very simple surgery.

But that is not always the case, haha.

Unlike our simple assumptions, surgery involves several factors in combination.

If a canthoplasty was performed incorrectly and left a hook-like outer-line scar like this,

it is usually corrected with a canthoplasty revision surgery.

However, depending on the condition of the eyes, another surgical method may be suggested to achieve the desired direction of correction.

Even though this person had canthoplasty, the tear duct is barely visible,

so with a canthoplasty revision surgery, the overly opened inner front part of the double-eyelid line is adjusted to be thinner.

Although it is a revision surgery, the eyes are neatly opened without being excessive,

and the before-and-after results show that the double-eyelid line has been well corrected as well.

Many people who visit for consultations to undergo lateral canthoplasty are often surprised

when they hear the stitch removal date for the lateral canthoplasty at our clinic.

Unlike ordinary simple lateral canthoplasty, the eye-corner lowering lateral canthoplasty performed at our clinic

does not merely widen the eyes horizontally, but also lowers the outer corners,

creating an enormous eye-enlarging effect. Because of this, unlike procedures with a smaller canthal opening range such as medial canthoplasty or simple lateral canthoplasty,

it is difficult to remove the stitches after just one week,

and if the stitches at the surgical site are removed too early, the sutured area is more likely to open.

So stitch removal is done only after 2 weeks have passed since surgery.

The lateral canthoplasty stitches are removed twice in total, once at 1 week and once at 2 weeks,

and the photo above was taken on the day when all the stitches were completely removed, 2 weeks after lateral canthoplasty.

The canthal-opening effect is clear,

while the swelling, conjunctival edema, and redness are not as severe as in some other cases. Unlike this, there are cases where conjunctival edema or redness continues for a long time even after stitches are removed following lateral canthoplasty,

so if you have an important schedule coming up, it is best to avoid surgery by at least one month.
