If you are concerned about the hook-shaped scar at the inner corner of the eye caused by excessive medial epicanthoplasty,
it can be corrected with medial epicanthoplasty revision surgery.
Today, we will take a look at the long-term follow-up photos of the subject of the post above.
In the previous post, we covered the pre-surgery and 6-month post-surgery photos,
so these are the long-term before-and-after photos from more than 3 years later, following the short-term 6-month results.

One of the concerns in medial epicanthoplasty revision surgery is
"revision scar."
People undergo revision because the scar from the previous incision looks unattractive and the shape is not normal, but if the new scar created by this revision surgery is too severe and noticeable,
many people will hesitate to have the procedure.
Although the scar from the excessive medial epicanthoplasty before surgery was covered after surgery, at 6 months post-op, even with makeup, the color of the surgical area still remained somewhat red.
However, looking at the photo from 3 years after surgery,
you can see that the scar is barely visible and the color has become almost the same as the surrounding skin.

Another concern in medial epicanthoplasty revision surgery is
"recurrence."
Just as the surgical area can reattach after an incision procedure,
the revision area can also reopen after revision surgery!
The revision site, which had remained stable through 6 months after surgery,
has not recurred and is still well maintained even after 3 years.
No matter how well the surgery is performed, during the recovery period after surgery,
if you rub your eyes a lot or pull open the surgical area out of curiosity,
and do other actions that put strain on the surgical site,
it will be difficult for good results to last for a long time, right?!

Lastly, what is considered important in medial epicanthoplasty revision surgery is
"amount of correction."
This is because the degree of scarring from the previous incision differs for each patient who needs revision surgery,
and the conditions such as the amount of available skin and skin elasticity also differ,
and the degree of correction each patient wants is also different.
Even if the patient wants only a small amount of correction so it does not feel too tight,
if the scar is severe or the degree of the incision is too excessive,
a larger amount of correction may be unavoidable,
and if revision is performed too aggressively when there is not enough skin and the tension is low,
the revision site may reopen, increasing the possibility of recurrence.
The reason why good results can be maintained without problems even in long-term follow-up of more than 3 years is that,
between scar correction and the amount of correction you want,
it is not only due to sufficient consultation with the doctor to achieve the best result while minimizing risk,
but also due to the mindset of being willing to let go of the desire to have both at once to a reasonable extent.
