We all want smooth skin.

So even a small pimple can be bothersome,

and it is only natural to become sensitive about acne-prone skin, large moles on the face, or scars.

This patient was concerned about a large raised wart under the right eye

and visited the hospital to have it removed.

The visible lesion was a raised wart,

protruding like a lump and slightly dark like a mole,

which was making the area under the eye look uneven.

Most lumps that appear on the face are

benign tumors that do not require a separate biopsy,

so after the examination, a simple wart removal surgery was performed under local anesthesia.

(There are rare cases, such as malignant melanoma, where a biopsy is needed,

so even for a simple procedure, a visual examination is essential.)

Although a long incision line remains, it can be seen that the protruding wart was removed well.

There is a reason why the incision line is long.

If only the protruding wart is circularly excised and then sutured,

the suture site will not be smooth and may heal unevenly,

so to remove a mass like this, it is usually necessary to design an elliptical shape about three times the size of the lesion,

excise it, and then close the wound.

For this reason, the incision line is somewhat long,

but if the incision scar is sutured neatly and smoothly, it will fade over time.

Also, because the shape of the incision line is similar to the wrinkle of the under-eye aegyo-sal area,

once the bruising fades to some extent, it can look natural.

At dermatology clinics, these kinds of warts are sometimes simply burned off with a laser,

and while laser treatment can remove them well in some cases, when the mass is this large,

it may not be completely removed down to the root and can recur.

Also, if the laser is used deeply in an attempt to remove it all the way to the root, the skin may become sunken,

so even if a slight scar has to be accepted, surgery is better for a clean and definite removal.
