[Lari Plastic Surgery] Re-correction as Needed After Double Eyelid Removal Surgery and Recovery Process Photos by Period

Today, I’d like to look at recovery photos of a patient with some unusual features, organized by period.

Many people who undergo double eyelid removal surgery want to compare and check their own condition over time, so today I’ll explain in detail while looking at the photos of a patient with several special circumstances, including some unusual points.

This is before surgery. It is assumed that the patient originally had monolids, but as the skin sagged, a double eyelid formed. In the photo, the left eye had multiple folds and developed a double eyelid, while the other side did not yet have one, but a faint line was starting to appear, seeming to show signs that a line like the left eye’s would soon form.

So double eyelid removal surgery was performed on both eyes.

Even though the surgery was clearly completed after carefully matching the size of both eyes, when looking at the eyes at this point, the day the stitches were removed, you can see that the size of the two eyes is different.

When eyelid surgery is performed together with ptosis correction, this kind of thing often happens.

During surgery, because of the effects of sedation and the anesthetic injected directly into the eyelids, even if the eyes are adjusted to look similar during the operation, the way the eyes open is different from usual, so when the swelling has gone down somewhat by the day stitches are removed after surgery, differences like this can appear.

Because the swelling during surgery and the muscles dulled by the anesthetic cannot be controlled by a person, in such cases re-correction is sometimes performed immediately on the day stitches are removed.

Of course, it is best if this kind of result does not occur, but if follow-up checks show that re-correction is necessary, it is better to proceed with the procedure right away.

The photo above shows the immediate post-procedure result on the day stitches were removed, after checking the difference in eye size and re-correcting only the left eye, which opened more widely, to balance both sides.

Unlike the right eye, by re-correcting the degree to which the left eye opened more on the inner side, you can see that the two eyes became more similar.

Compared with the right eye, which was operated on only once, the left eye, which underwent surgery twice, has more swelling that lasts longer, and there is also more scar tissue at the incision site, so the surgical area is not very smooth.

The degree of scar tissue gradually worsens until the one-month mark and then slowly loosens. When scar tissue forms, the incision line may look red, long-lasting swelling may accompany it, and the line may appear to protrude around the scar tissue.

At this time, patients often ask, worried and concerned, whether this is okay or whether something has gone wrong, but it is a natural part of the recovery process and there is no need to worry excessively.

However, among these changes, there may be cases where recovery is not proceeding in the desired direction or where periodic checks are needed, so even if it is inconvenient, once you have surgery, you should visit on the follow-up dates requested by the hospital and continue to check your progress consistently.

If the condition is severe in the eye shown in the previous state, scar-tissue injections may be tried, but if it is judged that it would be better to wait and see with natural recovery, then time is given and progress is checked again. A visit was requested to check once more at the three-month mark, and as expected, as the scar tissue gradually loosened, the eye shape returned to its original form.

Because recovery of the skin was a little slower due to back-to-back surgeries, there is still some slight unevenness, but when looking at it overall, including the eye size and the fact that the double eyelid has been removed, it is recovering slowly but steadily.

Although only about three months have passed and this is not the final result yet, if you compare the pre-surgery photo with the photo from three months after surgery, you can clearly see that it has changed in a positive direction.
