[Rari Plastic Surgery] Causes of Uneven Eye Size After Double Eyelid Removal Surgery, Cases That Naturally Even Out, Before-and-After Photos

Some of the surgeries that men undergo without really knowing what they are getting is incisional ptosis correction surgery.

Incisional ptosis correction is a ptosis correction surgery that improves the strength of eyelid opening, and

this ptosis correction surgery is usually performed while creating a double eyelid line.

These days, ptosis correction is sometimes done while making the double eyelid line very thin or natural, almost like an inner double eyelid with barely any line,

but in the past, after incisional ptosis correction,

the double eyelid line would often be visible to some extent,

so the eyes would end up looking obviously like they had double eyelid surgery.

This patient had previously undergone incisional ptosis correction and epicanthoplasty,

but the double eyelid line turned out much thicker than expected,

and the effect of the ptosis correction was also limited, while the double eyelids gave a heavy and cramped impression,

so the patient considered surgery to remove the double eyelids.

In the end, the patient underwent double eyelid removal surgery at our clinic,

and has maintained eyes without a double eyelid crease well for three years.

The visible size of the eyes is the same before and after surgery,

but when the double eyelids were thick before surgery, the eyes looked heavy and sleepy in an unbalanced way,

and after surgery, the eyes without a double eyelid crease look smooth and natural.

Here, there is one thing we should look at.

That is what happens during the short recovery period before long-term follow-up.

I did not include the side view because it is difficult to notice at a glance, but

let’s check it in the front-facing photo where it is easier to see.

Looking at the photo one month after double eyelid removal surgery, from the appearance before surgery with prominent double eyelids,

there is somehow a feeling that the left eye (right side in the photo) looks larger.

In fact, the patient did not feel a major difference at this stage,

but from a third person’s perspective, viewed from the front, a slight difference was visible.

However, in the photo from three years after surgery, you can see that this difference has improved.

This difference (unevenness) that appeared one month after surgery was caused by the use of the eyebrows and forehead muscles.

It is unfortunate that I cannot show a photo including the forehead,

but those with a keen eye may have noticed it just from the degree to which the eyebrows are visible.

The photos were aligned to the same size, proportions, and tilt,

but compared to before surgery, one month after surgery the left eyebrow is somewhat less visible on the screen, right?!

That is because the eyebrow has moved upward by that amount.

Depending on the difference in eye-opening strength or the degree of swelling after eye surgery,

during the recovery period, people temporarily use the eyebrows or forehead muscles when opening their eyes,

which creates a subtle difference between the two eyes.

Differences like this can sometimes naturally even out over time, as shown in the photo from three years after surgery above,

but in some cases they do not, or the difference becomes more pronounced,

so Botox for the forehead may be used to help adjust it.

This does not mean the surgery was done incorrectly.

It is a temporary part of the adaptation period that occurs at the transition point between the muscles used in the preoperative state and the muscles that need to be used to match the changed state after surgery,

and if Botox is used to help make this adjustment more easily,

it can support muscle use more effectively.

Three years after surgery,

as the double eyelids were removed through double eyelid removal surgery,

the double eyelid scar that was visible when the eyes were closed was also removed,

so the eyes became neat and natural whether open or closed.

In this way, do not rush and worry because the difference seems immediate within a short time after surgery,

and do not stress yourself out by looking in the mirror every day and feeling anxious.

With a calm mind, visit the clinic at the appropriate time,

check the progress, and wait for the results, and you can achieve good outcomes.
