After double eyelid surgery,
sometimes the eyelashes turn outward and the mucosa becomes visible.
When wearing makeup or eyelash extensions,
it may not look strange even if the mucosa is visible like this, and the eyelashes may even look prettier.
But when you are not wearing makeup or simply notice it in everyday life,
the white exposed mucosa can look awkward and unnatural.
If the mucosa remains lifted and fixed after double eyelid surgery,
even if revision double eyelid surgery is performed, there is a high chance that the mucosa will be lifted again.
So the surgery has to be performed with that area in mind.

One way to correct eyelash eversion is double eyelid removal surgery.
The reason the eyelashes lift is that the muscle that creates the double eyelid is fixed deeply above the upper eyelid tarsus.
Even after double eyelid surgery, not during the recovery period but after recovery,
the eyelashes are still lifted, and this is often seen in patients who have stronger fixation of the eyelid crease than the fixation of the Müller muscle during ptosis correction, or in patients with a deep and strong double eyelid like a “sausage” eyelid.
So, in double eyelid removal surgery, while loosening the double eyelid,
the key point of correcting eyelash eversion is to carefully release the adhesions that are deeply fixed above the upper eyelid tarsus as well.
At this time, surgical detail and delicacy are needed to create an appropriate angle so that the eyelashes do not come down too much.

Another reason double eyelid removal surgery can correct eyelash eversion is related to the structure of the eyelid and the eye when the eyes are open.
Sometimes, after removing the double eyelid, there are people whose upper eyelid presses slightly on the eye line, causing the upper eyelashes to be slightly pressed down.
This is especially common in people with thick eyelids or a lot of excess skin.
In that case, the mucosa that had been flipped upward and lifted, as shown here, comes down slightly due to the eyelid skin after surgery.
Of course, there can be issues from this as well.
In some cases, only for people whose eyelashes point downward, the eyelashes may be pressed even more and poke the eyeball inward.
So for people who may have that possibility, when performing double eyelid removal surgery,
we sometimes lift the eyelashes slightly so that the mucosa is visible as a preventive measure against upper eyelid entropion.
Because of this, during the early recovery period after surgery,
many people look at their eyes and are surprised and worried.
( Of course, it gets better and improves over time, so there is no need to worry! )

The appearance in which the double eyelid has been successfully removed and the mucosal lifting has been completely corrected
can be confirmed from the angle and height of the eyelashes from all sides.
The scar visible near the inner corner of the eye is a scar from a previous epicanthoplasty,
and is unrelated to the surgical area of the double eyelid removal procedure, so it could not be removed together, but it looks somewhat lighter than before the operation, when the line was more distinct.

Double eyelid removal surgery is also performed with an incision.
However, the incision line is very close to the lash line,
and in most cases, the degree of scarring is improved or is similar to the scar from the previous double eyelid surgery,
rather than becoming worse than the scar from the previous surgery.
Before surgery, the mucosa is lifted, so even when the eyes are closed, it feels like the eyes are slightly open,
but after surgery, the mucosal area comes down, and the eyes close properly.
