[Rari Plastic Surgery] Before and after surgery: removing a poorly lifting natural double eyelid to transform into a handsome-looking eye

People who have natural double eyelids often strangely have large, thick double eyelids.

Ah, maybe it’s because we heard a rumor that our clinic is good at removing double eyelids,

and many people like this come to us.

Heh heh, ha ha.

Enough nonsense—let’s get to the point ㅎ

As you may have seen in the before-and-after photos from previous posts, thick double eyelids, whether natural or surgically created, rarely allow the eyes to open clearly and widely.

The reason is that the thicker the double-eyelid line is, the shorter the length of the muscle that helps open the eyes becomes from the eyelid line, so it cannot pull upward much.

So, thick double eyelids can give a glamorous and somewhat less-open, dreamy impression, but eyes that look naturally large and clear without makeup are those with thin double eyelids or almost invisible inner double eyelids.

We can think about that.

However, difficulty in opening the eyes may not be only a matter of line thickness.

If the strength of the muscle that opens the eyes is inherently weak, ptosis correction should be performed to supplement and strengthen that weak force. And if that muscle has been torn due to habits like rubbing the eyes or other actions that strain the eyes, the torn muscle needs to be reconnected according to the proper structure. If there is too much excess skin pressing down on the eyes, a firm skin excision suited to the current eye condition may also be necessary.

It is important to accurately understand the patient’s condition and cause of difficulty in opening the eyes, and to address the root cause properly during surgery.

Any issue cannot be made up of just one simple reason.

This patient had a high double-eyelid line that made it difficult for the eyes to gain strength, and also had a lot of excess skin, so during the surgery to remove the double eyelids, we excised the skin according to the design, lowered the line, and lengthened the range over which the muscle that opens the eyes can work. As a result, after surgery, even without a line, the eyes became larger and clearer than before, and the eye shape now looks natural and not burdened, unlike before surgery.

When looking downward, the thick double-eyelid line that had been prominently visible before surgery disappeared after surgery and changed into a very thin line.

For people with a lot of excess skin and slightly thicker upper eyelids, if surgery is performed as a complete no-fold look, the eyes may appear heavy or cramped, so for this patient, we designed and performed the surgery with a very thin inner double eyelid that is close to no-fold. That is why a slight line appears when looking downward.

Although we removed a lot of excess skin and also performed ptosis correction, precise design and delicate adjustment of the strength help reduce side effects such as incomplete eye closure and make daily life more comfortable.
