Today, let’s take a look at before-and-after photos of a person whose buried double eyelid surgery came undone.

In the pre-surgery photo, do you see the faint line in the middle of the very thick double eyelid line?! That line was originally the double eyelid made with buried double eyelid surgery. However, as that buried double eyelid came undone, tension was placed on the upper part of the line, and a very thick line formed incompletely. The line, which had been set too high, was not uniform, and thick double eyelid skin pressed on the eyes, making them look sleepy, while the thickness of the double eyelid line made the eyes look smaller.

You might think revision surgery to re-establish the loosened line would be enough, but once a double eyelid has come undone, it is usually a line that does not suit one’s own eye shape, and even after revision surgery, there is a high chance it will come undone again. So we proceeded with eye revision surgery by removing the double eyelid.

The buried thread that had been inside the upper eyelid

Removal surgery for the double eyelid starts by releasing the adhesions of the double eyelid in the upper eyelid, and in cases like this where multiple folds are present, the adhesions must be released more carefully. While dissecting to release the double eyelid adhesions, the buried thread used in the buried double eyelid surgery was also removed, cleaning the deeper tissue and releasing the double eyelid adhesions at the same time.

Because she is a woman, instead of a completely monolid look, we performed the surgery with a subtle inner-double-eyelid line that is closer to a soft monolid. At 6 months after surgery, the eyes were made soft and smooth, with a very thin inner-double-eyelid line.

Since the thickness of the loosened double eyelid line before surgery was very thick, the post-surgery line may seem too thin and feel awkward, but anyone can see that the post-surgery double eyelid line suits the patient’s eye shape much better than the pre-surgery line.

Also, while making the line thinner, we slightly adjusted the overall eye-opening correction, so you can see that the eyes open a bit more clearly. For the eye-opening correction, we focused on the middle and back parts, which had been slightly lower than the front part of the eye, and even without canthoplasty, the eyes look refreshing and clear.

Unlike the previous buried double eyelid surgery, the surgery was performed through an incision to remove the double eyelid, but 6 months after the double eyelid removal surgery, the incision scar is not particularly uneven and has formed smoothly, so it does not look bad even when the eyes are closed.
