Double eyelid removal surgery is, as the name suggests,

surgery to remove an existing double eyelid.

a double eyelid that was created through a previous surgery,

a line that suddenly appeared as the skin sagged with age,

or a double eyelid fold that is only barely there.

This person had undergone incisional double eyelid surgery and epicanthoplasty six months ago.

While waiting for the swelling from the double eyelid surgery to go down,

one side’s double eyelid line came undone, leaving the two sides uneven.

To improve this unevenness, another double eyelid surgery could have been done,

but there was no guarantee it would not loosen again, so the chosen option was

double eyelid removal surgery.

Three months after undergoing double eyelid removal surgery,

the double eyelid has been completely removed.

On the left eye, where the previously operated double eyelid had loosened

and only an ambiguous line remained toward the front,

all of the remaining front portion of the double eyelid was also released, creating a monolid.

The right eye, where the line was still present, was also cleaned up by fully releasing the double eyelid,

turning it into a monolid.

While maintaining the existing eye-opening correction so that it would not loosen,

only the double eyelid was removed, so the eyes did not become smaller and instead looked softer and more natural.

The patient said they wanted the eyes to look longer horizontally while removing the double eyelid,

but since you cannot intentionally make the vertical height of the eyes smaller just to create a longer horizontal look,

surgery was performed while maintaining the existing eye size.

Even though the eye size did not change, the double eyelid line on the eyelid disappeared,

so although not directly, visually

the eyes looked longer horizontally than before surgery.

Also, through double eyelid removal surgery,

the scar created by the previous double eyelid surgery was removed at the same time, leaving the eyelids smoother. Of course, a new incision scar from this surgery will be created,

but because the incision line is close to the eyelashes,

it is not as noticeably visible as the scar was before surgery.

The swelling has not yet gone down completely, so it will continue to settle over time,
