When people come to the hospital for consultations about revision double eyelid surgery,
they can be broadly divided into three groups.
The first group is people who come in with a lot of swelling in the very early stage after surgery, carrying many worries.
The second group is people who are already many years past surgery and now feel they can’t delay any longer, so they think they need surgery.
The third group is people who have waited about 6 months to 1 year after surgery but still think correction is necessary.

For people in the first situation, it is generally better to wait.
This period comes with a lot of swelling,
so unless there is a problem that needs to be corrected right away or a problem that can be corrected and found early,
there is usually no need to touch it, because there is nothing to improve by intervening.
Many people in the second group may not be completely satisfied with the result,
but are in a state where they can compromise to some extent,
or were in a situation where they could not make time for surgery because of their job.
So after a long time has passed, their skin has sagged and they feel they can’t just leave it as it is anymore.

The best time for revision surgery is the third case:
about 6 months to 1 year after surgery.
This is the period when the swelling from the previous surgery has fully gone down and the eyes have settled,
so in fact, waiting longer is usually fine,
but at minimum, this period should have passed for the eyes to be in a suitable state for revision surgery.
If you wait like this, recovery may help balance the difference between both eyes,
and as the swelling goes down, the thick double eyelid line may also become more natural.

This patient had an incisional double eyelid surgery together with corner surgery one year ago.
The line was higher than expected and the eyes tended to open a little too much,
but first, they waited about one year until the swelling from the previous surgery went down and the eyes settled, then visited the hospital for correction.
Surgery was possible right away,
and since the patient wanted the double eyelid line not to be visible naturally,
they underwent surgery to remove the double eyelid.
Double eyelid removal surgery can also involve a lot of swelling in the early stage after surgery,
so you may worry that something went wrong,
but for this surgery as well, it is better to allow about 6 months to 1 year and observe the recovery process so it can fully settle.
One year after the first surgery, they had not achieved the result they wanted,
but as mentioned above, after going through a certain recovery period,
after revision surgery (double eyelid removal), 6 months later,
they obtained the good result they had wanted, to the point of being satisfied without a visible double eyelid.
