“Isn’t double-eyelid removal surgery just a revision surgery that lowers the double-eyelid line?”

Double-eyelid removal surgery is, quite literally, surgery to remove the double eyelid.

That includes whether the fold is a natural double eyelid, a surgically created double eyelid,

or even a barely visible fold or a multiple-fold eyelid with overlapping creases.

When people hear that a double eyelid will be removed, they usually think the eyes will become smaller.

However, depending on the shape and condition of the eyes, if eyelid correction is properly combined with the procedure,

the double eyelid can be removed without making the eyes smaller.

Now that the definition and effects are covered, let’s look at what we are really curious about.

The result we imagine from double-eyelid removal surgery is

that there is, of course, no line when the eyes are open,

and that there is also no line when looking downward like this.

However, if you are truly considering double-eyelid removal surgery,

after looking through various videos, articles, and before-and-after photos about no-double-eyelid surgery,

I think you must have wondered about this at least once.

After no-double-eyelid surgery to remove the double eyelid,

the difference between someone who looks like they have no double eyelid but still has a slight fold visible near the outer corner, like the left photo,

and someone with absolutely no visible line at all, like the right photo.

Even if you undergo the same double-eyelid removal surgery,

the surgical method changes depending on each person’s eye condition and desired shape,

so there will be slight differences in the result.

To get straight to the point,

the reason for the difference in the outer-end line is whether the double eyelid is lightly anchored in place, even if only very thinly,

or whether it is not anchored at all and left as a no-double-eyelid look.

Eyes like these are cases where the surgery was done so that no line is visible after the operation.

When looking at the front view before and after surgery,

there is no remaining line near the outer corner of the eye, and it is a no-double-eyelid look from start to finish.

When double-eyelid removal surgery is performed in this fully no-double-eyelid style,

even if you look downward after the surgery, unlike before the surgery,

you will not be able to find the line.

On the other hand, if after double-eyelid removal surgery the person still seems to have a slight line remaining near the outer corner,

compared with before surgery, it may look as though the double eyelid has disappeared after surgery,

but the procedure was performed with a hidden-fold design that is close to a no-double-eyelid look,

and the double-eyelid line was lightly anchored, producing the result shown above.

Because there is an anchored line, even when looking downward,

you can see the thin line folding in.

For patients like this one, whose double-eyelid line is too large or too thick,

switching to a fully no-double-eyelid look can create a change in image that feels too drastic,

so a hidden fold close to a no-double-eyelid look is generally recommended.

However, if the surgery is performed with a hidden-fold design close to a no-double-eyelid look, as shown in the right photo,

you should keep in mind that the double-eyelid line may be slightly visible when looking downward.

If you absolutely do not want a double-eyelid line to be visible when looking downward,

you can have surgery done in a fully no-double-eyelid style to eliminate the line entirely.

However, if the surgery is done in a fully no-double-eyelid style,

the skin at the outer corner of the eye may droop downward depending on the shape of the bones around the eyes and how the muscles act,

so the eye shape may look more constricted than before surgery.

You should consider this point as well.

The main reason why a slight line can still be seen near the outer corner after no-double-eyelid surgery is whether the line was lightly anchored or not.

However, there are also many other factors involved.

In the early stage after surgery, swelling; after stitch removal, traces of the incision and suturing; and during recovery, adhesion caused by scar tissue,

for many reasons, even if the surgery is performed in a fully no-double-eyelid style,

the double-eyelid line may appear to still be present for a certain period of time.

Please do not worry, and come in for follow-up checks at the appropriate time.
