When consulting with patients, I often hear questions like, "Did celebrity ㅇㅇㅇ have facial contouring?" or "Did celebrity ㅁㅁㅁ have facial contouring?"

I think many of you have wondered why the celebrities you see on TV seem to get prettier and prettier. You may not be able to tell exactly what has changed, but they just keep looking better, right?

So today, I’d like to talk about celebrity facial contouring and why celebrities seem to get prettier over time,

and if you are currently considering facial contouring surgery, I’ll also share as much as I can about what you should know before surgery.

If I were to name a specific celebrity and say that a certain celebrity had facial contouring, it might cause problems,

so first of all, it is true that facial contouring is one of the surgeries celebrities also get.

I think the reason already pretty celebrities undergo facial contouring is because it is a surgery that can make them look prettier in a natural, not excessive way.

One of the common misconceptions people have is, "Facial contouring is a surgery that shaves down bone, so it will create a dramatic change."

However, if someone already has a fairly developed cheekbone and jaw, it can create dramatic changes, but in fact, unlike major surgeries such as double jaw surgery, facial contouring is a procedure that creates effects through subtle differences measured in millimeters.

Simply put, I think the expression "refining" the face is appropriate.

I’ll explain it with photos for easier understanding.

As you can see, the patient above is pretty enough and does not seem to have any major issues with her face shape. But the patient wanted a more refined look, so she decided to undergo cheekbone reduction surgery.

Her face shape was not unattractive before surgery, but even after simply refining the contours a little, the overall impression changed. You can see that the face gained a better sense of proportion and changed into a softer, more polished image.

But would people looking at this patient realize that she had plastic surgery, or that she had facial contouring?

In reality, the difference is truly subtle.

In this way, facial contouring surgery can change the image with very subtle differences, and because it is a surgery that can make you prettier without those around you noticing, many women, including celebrities, seem to come in for it.

If you are currently considering facial contouring surgery, there are some things you should be careful about.

During consultations, many people say, "Please shave here too, and there too... I just don’t like any of it..."

At times like this, I always say that if facial contouring surgery focuses only on "reducing face size," good results can never be achieved.

If you think about it, there are really many celebrities who are very pretty even though their faces are not especially small, or even if they have a slightly square jaw. In fact, rather than a sharp face, a natural face shape gives the viewer a more comfortable feeling.

Until a few years ago, doll-like V-lines were in fashion, but recently softer and more natural images have become more preferred. Even among celebrity facial contouring cases, there are many natural-looking face shapes rather than razor-sharp ones.

Let me show you another patient case. The following is a photo of a patient who came in for three-in-one contouring.

As you can see, the patient’s facial line is not particularly uneven. However, the middle third of the face, from the brow to the mouth, is long, making the face look long overall.

If the length of the chin tip is reduced in this situation, the middle third of the face would look relatively longer, right? Also, if the cheekbones are reduced more than necessary, or if the angle of the square jaw is cut away without leaving any angle behind, the line from the cheekbones to the lower jaw would become close to a straight line, making the middle third of the face look even longer and resulting in a very awkward face shape.

This is a photo taken 6 months after surgery. Considering the proportions of the face, I performed the surgery by minimizing cheekbone reduction and preserving the angle of the lower jaw so that the middle third of the face would appear shorter. As you can see, the lower jaw is not a perfect V-line. By leaving some of the square jaw and chin tip in place like this, it is possible to create a natural-looking face shape that does not appear awkward even after three-in-one contouring.

If you look again, the actual degree of refinement was very small.

Even though the actual length of the face did not change, the surgery that took proportions into account made the face look shorter and gave the overall face better balance.

I call this the "front-view effect of contour surgery." Surgery that considers facial proportions is important not only from an aesthetic standpoint, but also for avoiding postoperative side effects and unnecessary surgery, so it should be carefully reviewed before surgery.

Even for cheekbone reduction alone, facial contouring surgery is a highly demanding procedure that requires considering the balance between the forehead and chin, and because the angles formed by the facial line can make the face appear longer or shorter than it really is, many factors must be taken into account.

Therefore, personally, I think that rather than focusing on various osteotomy methods or maximizing face-size reduction, it is important to accurately understand the patient’s contour condition and consider the overall proportions in order to achieve results that remain satisfying even after time has passed following surgery.
