Male Cheekbone Reduction Surgery, Explained with Before-and-After Photos of Facial Contouring Surgery.

When consulting patients about facial contouring surgery, I’ve noticed that the proportion of male patients visiting has increased significantly over the past 1 to 2 years.

However, if you are looking into male cheekbone reduction surgery or facial contouring, it may be difficult because there is not as much information available as there is for women. So today, I’ll explain male facial contouring and male cheekbone reduction surgery in an easy way, along with before-and-after photos of facial contouring surgery.

When consulting for male facial contouring or male cheekbone reduction surgery, unlike many women who point out specific concerns, there are many men who say, ‘I just don’t like the shape of my face.’

There are also many patients who come in not knowing whether they need cheekbone reduction surgery or square jaw surgery.

In fact, although they say they just don’t like it, when we look during the consultation, the common reasons men dislike their face shape are usually that it looks uneven or that the face is wide from side to side.

It may seem obvious that an uneven appearance looks unappealing, but why is a wide face width a problem?

In general, a face shape with a short jaw and a wide horizontal width gives a youthful and cute impression. For women, this type of face shape can look round and cute. But when men have a face that is short and wide, it moves away from a masculine impression.

If you think of Korea’s representative handsome actors, you’ll notice that most have narrow faces with a longer vertical shape. ^^ In men, having a narrower face width and some definition in the jaw creates a sharper impression.

That is why male facial contouring inevitably differs from women’s not only in cheekbone reduction surgery, but also in square jaw surgery and chin surgery.

Rather than creating a soft and round line, the focus of the surgery is on narrowing the face width and creating masculine angles to produce a sharper image.

For easier understanding, I’ll show you before-and-after photos of a patient’s facial contouring surgery.

These are photos of a male patient who underwent 230-degree three-dimensional cheekbone reduction surgery two months ago as part of male facial contouring. As you can see, the cheekbones are developed outward, making the face wider and giving the overall impression of a shorter face.

In this patient’s case, the 45-degree cheekbone area was not particularly severe. First, from the side view, the developed bone contour creates shadows around the cheekbone area and gives a rather strong impression.

Therefore, the laterally prominent cheekbone was moved inward, and only the necessary amount of shaving was performed on the 45-degree cheekbone area to smooth out the contour.

This is a one-month post-op photo after male cheekbone reduction surgery. As you can see, the face has become slimmer than before, and the overall impression has changed a lot.

If you place the before-and-after facial contouring photos side by side, you can clearly see that the face width has been reduced. You can also see that the image has changed from strong and rough to sharp.

It may look like a big change, but if you check closely, the absolute length of the lower jaw or the face has not changed. However, as the wide cheekbone width is reduced and the ratio between the face’s horizontal and vertical dimensions becomes more balanced, the face looks more proportionate and slimmer even without square jaw surgery or chin surgery.

This is the side view. Because the 45-degree cheekbone area was smoothly shaved, the slight contour was also neatly refined.

As shown in the before-and-after facial contouring photos, when the face is wide, good results can be achieved by performing surgery in a way that reduces face width and enhances masculine angles.

Also, one thing I would like to emphasize is that if facial proportions and the balance between the cheekbones and lower jaw are considered overall during facial contouring surgery, it is possible to create a sufficiently slim face without square jaw surgery or chin surgery, as shown earlier.

Therefore, when consulting about surgery, I recommend that you do not leave all decisions to the clinic. Instead, make a wise judgment by consulting several clinics and receive only the surgery that is truly needed.
