Hello, I’m Dr. Jo Hyun-woo of Itopia Plastic Surgery.
Today, I’d like to talk about a prominent brow bone.
A prominent brow bone is something that often appears on men’s foreheads.
However, sometimes women also visit us because they are concerned about a prominent brow bone.
A prominent brow bone can make the face look strong, and it can also make the eyes appear sunken.
In most cases, when we look at the skeletal structure of people with a prominent brow bone, it is not only the brow bone that protrudes; the forehead above it is often sunken. Since this can also be linked to a more aged appearance, many people want improvement.
I’ll explain how this can be addressed.

Forehead fat grafting (left) before surgery (right) after surgery
The first simple way to address a prominent brow bone is to make the surrounding area appear flatter through fat grafting or fillers.
Because women tend to prefer a fuller forehead, this can be improved by adding fillers or fat grafting around the protruding bone.
If a sunken forehead and a sloping forehead are filled with fat grafting and the slope is also adjusted, the overall forehead shape improves, the prominent brow bone becomes less noticeable, and a softer impression can be created.

Brow bone reduction surgery
The second method is to directly remove the protruding brow bone.
Because the brow bone contains many major nerves and blood vessels, there is a high risk of damage. To achieve good results without injuring the nerves, an endoscope is used.
A small incision of about 1 cm is made in the brow area, the tissue is dissected, and the protruding brow bone inside is carefully shaved down without cutting the bone.
Since the incision is made along the eyebrow line, the scar is hardly visible, which can make this a preferred method.

In the case of male patients, many do not want forehead volume, so this can often be the preferred method. For female patients as well, it can be a very good way to address an overly protruding brow bone.

Forehead lift surgery (left) before surgery (right) after surgery
Depending on the situation, combining brow bone reduction with a forehead lift can produce a softer impression, a more youthful look, and a forehead augmentation effect all at once, making the result much more dramatic.
This is a contouring procedure that can create a softer forehead line and a more feminine impression for people who have a strong masculine image because of a prominent brow bone and a sunken, uneven-looking forehead line.
I think it can be very helpful for those who are worried about a protruding brow bone.
Thank you.
