Can facial contouring make you look as pretty as celebrities Go Youn-jung or Karina?

One of the questions people consistently ask during facial contouring consultations is, among celebrity facial contouring cases, “Did celebrity 00 really have facial contouring surgery?”

They also bring photos of celebrities with beautiful face shapes, such as Go Youn-jung and Karina, and ask whether the same face shape can be achieved through contouring surgery.

If you ask whether a specific celebrity has had facial contouring surgery, it can be hard for me to say for certain unless I have operated on that person myself. But it is true that facial contouring surgery is one of the procedures many celebrities undergo.

Facial contouring surgery has the advantage of not looking obvious and allowing gradual changes little by little.

To explain the procedure, facial contouring surgery is an operation that refines the outline of the face.

Simply put, it is a surgery that pushes in or shaves down protruding areas to soften the contours of the face.

When the cheekbones and jaw are significantly developed, it can produce dramatic results.

However, when the bones are not highly developed, the change may be limited to smoothing the face with small differences measured in millimeters.

For example, in cheekbone surgery, the cheekbones are reduced by about 5 mm on each side on average in women.

In numerical terms, this may feel very small.

But if a person’s face width is 16 cm, reducing it by 6% is equivalent to a person who is 160 cm tall becoming 150 cm tall.

Let me show you photos of an actual patient.

Before surgery

This is a preoperative photo of a patient who underwent facial contouring triple surgery (cheekbone reduction, square jaw surgery, and chin surgery) at IPTEUK Plastic Surgery.

If you look at the photo, the face is small and the contours are not highly developed, so it is a face shape that does not necessarily need surgery.

During the consultation, this patient specifically asked to make the face shape similar to Go Youn-jung’s.

If you look at the side-view photo, the 45-degree cheekbone below the outer corner of the eye is slightly protruding, and the chin tip is sticking out.

The contours were not very pronounced, but the patient wanted a perfectly smooth face shape like Go Youn-jung’s.

Then let me show you the postoperative photos.

After surgery

This photo was taken about 2 months after surgery. At a glance, you may think there has not been much change, but

When comparing them side by side, you can see that the shadows created by the contours seen before surgery have disappeared, and the face looks more refined after surgery.

If you place them together, the difference is very small, right?

The cheekbone surgery was performed by pushing the bone segment inward without removing it, and the amount of square jaw reduction was also small, so it was only a very subtle refinement.

After surgery

However, as the angular lines of the face that were uneven before surgery became smoother, the overall impression clearly changed to a softer one.

If you look up photos of Go Youn-jung, you can see that her chin is not pointy and is smooth, but her overall face shape is softly balanced.

Square jaw surgery, chin surgery

As in this patient’s case, facial contouring surgery can produce dramatic results when the contours are significantly developed, but it is also a procedure that can change the overall mood of the face even with a small amount of bone reduction, as shown in the case above. For celebrities who are seen from all angles in front of cameras, these subtle differences are important, which is probably why many choose to have the procedure.

Of course, for this patient as well, I would say it is not necessary to do it if there is no major issue. But if it must be done, it is better to perform the surgery in a way that does not damage the face’s original beauty.

As with the patient shown above, people whose contours are not severely developed need to be careful because even slight overresection can make the face look unnatural.
