Facial Contouring Consultation Trip to Tokyo, Japan Vlog at Esthetic Plastic Surgery

Hello, I’m Dr. Jo Hyun-woo from Esthetic Plastic Surgery.

As those who have visited our hospital may know, we have many Japanese patients who come to our hospital for contouring surgery.

In fact, there are more Japanese patients than patients from other countries.

The reason is that before I opened Esthetic Plastic Surgery, I held many consultation events in Japan while I was at Eight Plastic Surgery.

We go to consultation events once every two months. When I first went to one, there were only about three to four consultation patients a day.

A year later, as patients began to recognize our hospital and we started seeing around ten or so patients, COVID-19 broke out ㅜㅜ

Japanese patients usually plan their visits about a year in advance, but because of COVID-19, they were unable to come to Japan, so I started conducting consultations via Zoom.

We held consultations on Zoom once every two months, and as soon as the COVID restrictions were lifted, I went back to Japan.

At first, we held the consultation events by renting a meeting venue in downtown Tokyo, but since we could not take CT scans there, there were some limitations.

However, starting about a year and a half ago, we partnered with a hospital in Ginza, Japan, and were able to hold consultation events inside the hospital.

Being able to take CT scans and consult right away led to high patient satisfaction.

So these days, when I go for consultation events, I consult with around 20 patients.

While consulting with and operating on Japanese patients, I also learn and feel many things myself.

Japanese people have slightly different goals for cosmetic surgery than people in Korea, and the structure of their bones is a little different as well, so I think it is very important to perform surgery in a customized way. Also, Japanese patients are often very concerned about sagging, so they tend to feel much less burdened by lifting procedures, which is why I often do lifting consultations in combination with contouring surgery.

Although I skip meals because I am consulting with many patients, I am also able to check on the progress of surgical patients, and I return home feeling very fulfilled.

On the evening before departure, I enjoy some time alone and also visit local restaurants in Japan.^^

As Esthetic Plastic Surgery relocates, we are planning to begin surgeries not only for Japanese patients but also for patients from English-speaking countries.

More and more people from overseas have started to visit us after seeing the results for Korean patients.

Going forward, with the best medical staff and the latest medical systems, we will continue to do our best to provide sincere and careful consultations with each and every patient, as well as perfect surgeries, so that patients can feel satisfied.
