Invited Lecture on ‘Contouring Facelift’ at the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons PRS KOREA 2025

Hello.

I am Huh Jae-won, a board-certified plastic surgeon at Imi Plastic Surgery, where I perform youthful facial plastic surgery.

Every fall, various academic events are held in succession, and in particular, the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (PRS Korea) in November is one of the most important events for plastic surgeons.

Because it is one of the largest academic conferences in Asia, there are also quite a lot of doctors visiting from overseas.

Naturally, it has the character of an international conference, with all lectures and discussions conducted in English.

At PRS Korea 2025, I was thankfully asked to give a lecture on “Facelift, Contouring Facelift,” and I delivered my presentation based on the content of my previous serialized article, “How to Get Contouring Surgery Effects with a Facelift.”

A few years ago, I remember that there were not as many overseas speakers or participants at domestic academic conferences as there are now.

But this year, the participation of foreign doctors was especially high, and I was able to interact with doctors of various nationalities throughout the lecture halls.

It was a moment when I could truly feel that the status of Korean plastic surgery is rising.

In my outpatient clinic recently, the proportion of overseas patients has also been steadily increasing.

K-beauty is no longer a trend far away, but something that is being felt in real clinical practice.

The Face Lift in the West and the Strengths of Korean Surgical Skill

In fact, facelift surgery has long been one of the most popular anti-aging procedures in the West.

As can be seen in my previous analysis article on a celebrity abroad (analysis of Brad Pitt’s facelift), it is already a well-known procedure among the general public in the West.

In Korea, on the other hand, even though many celebrities undergo the procedure, it is still often done quietly.

However, considering that overseas trends tend to be introduced to Korea with a time lag of about 10 years, facelift surgery is also likely to become increasingly common in Korea in the future.

What was interesting, based on watching surgery videos from overseas doctors, is that the level of Korean facelift technique is actually very high.

In particular, the meticulous dissection method, understanding of the anatomical structures between layers, and the approach to creating natural results all felt ahead in many respects in Korea.

Even so, the surgical cost is often less than one-quarter of that overseas.

That is why I feel a growing desire to let more doctors and patients around the world know about Korea’s surgical capabilities.

This conference also had great meaning for me personally.

It was a time when I could introduce Korean facelift techniques on an international stage, and at the same time learn about global trends from a broader perspective.

Going forward, through continued research and development, I will work to make Korea’s anti-aging surgical techniques more widely known and to provide more standardized treatment and safer results.
