“Will a skin booster work even if I get it just once?”
This is a question I hear very often in the clinic. Since it is a treatment that can be started with relatively little burden when the skin is dry or losing elasticity, many people wonder whether one session is enough.
To give the conclusion first, some people definitely notice a change after just one treatment, but if we are thinking about the kind of “sustained skin improvement” we usually hope for, a different approach is needed. Today, I’ll explain how skin boosters work and how many sessions are generally needed to truly feel the effects.

What kind of treatment is a skin booster?
A skin booster is a treatment that directly delivers moisture and nourishing ingredients into the skin. Unlike cosmetics applied only on the surface, it delivers ingredients to the dermis, so it can help improve hydration, elasticity, and skin texture.
There are many types, including hyaluronic acid, PN (the Rejuran line), and ingredients that induce collagen production. While the way each ingredient acts on the skin is a little different, the common goal is to improve the skin environment and lift overall skin condition.

Can you feel an effect after just one session?
There are definitely people who feel that their skin becomes more hydrated or that their skin texture becomes a little softer after just one treatment. In particular, those whose skin was very dry often notice the moisturizing effect relatively quickly.
However, unlike fillers, skin boosters are not a treatment that creates an immediate volume change; they gradually improve skin condition. So rather than expecting a noticeable transformation from just one session, it is more realistic to think of it as a treatment that makes your skin feel better overall.

Why are multiple sessions needed?
The skin does not completely change from a single stimulus. The processes of collagen production and skin regeneration take time, and repeated stimulation accumulates to bring gradual improvement.
That is why, in general, we recommend at least three sessions at 2- to 4-week intervals as a basic treatment course. When treatments are repeated this way, the skin environment inside becomes more stable over time, and you can expect improvements in moisture retention, elasticity, and skin texture together.

How can you maintain the results better?
For skin boosters, the treatment itself is important, but aftercare is also extremely important. After the procedure, the skin may temporarily become more sensitive, so sufficient moisturizing and UV protection are essential.
Also, to maintain improved skin for a longer time, it helps to continue care at regular intervals as a maintenance treatment. This depends on each person’s skin condition, but repeated treatments at certain intervals can help maintain a more stable skin condition.

It is better to understand skin boosters not as a “one-and-done treatment,” but as a process of gradually improving the skin. Short-term changes can still be meaningful, but the more important goal is to raise the skin’s baseline condition through consistent care.
Most importantly, it is essential to choose ingredients and a treatment plan that match your skin condition. Even with the same skin booster, the results can vary depending on how and at what intervals it is administered, so I recommend discussing it thoroughly with a dermatologist and planning the approach that best suits you.
