Hello, this is Lucid Dental Clinic.
One of the most common things we hear before a dental appointment is,
"I was putting it off because I was scared."
In particular, treatments like implants, which take a long time
and involve surgical procedures, often feel like more than
just a simple concern.
Even if people around you say it will be fine,
even if you understand it logically, it still takes courage
to actually open the clinic door.
For those who are sensitive to pain, find the sounds or vibrations during treatment difficult, struggle even with lying down, or want to erase the memory of treatment itself, we know very well that "mental preparation" is needed. That is why Lucid Dental Clinic also provides implant treatment using "conscious sedation therapy" as a way to ease this burden.

Conscious sedation therapy is one type of sedation therapy, also called "sleep anesthesia," and it is a method of anesthesia that helps patients receive treatment in a lightly asleep state.
Unlike general anesthesia, it is performed while the patient can maintain spontaneous breathing, and because light communication with the medical staff is possible when needed, it is used relatively safely.
The anesthetic mainly uses a medication called "midazolam," which acts quickly, produces sedation in a short time, and is characterized by rapid recovery as well.
In particular, for implant surgery, which can be highly tense during dental treatment, and especially when multiple implants must be placed at once, conscious sedation therapy can be very helpful because patient cooperation and systemic response are important.

Recommended for the following people
If even one of the following applies to you, conscious sedation therapy at Lucid Dental Clinic may be appropriate.
-
People who are very sensitive to pain
If even minor treatment causes an overly sensitive reaction, making treatment itself feel difficult
-
People with dental phobia
If the overall dental environment, including sounds, vibrations, instruments, and smells, feels stressful
-
People who need multiple implants placed at once
If receiving treatment with your mouth open for a long time feels burdensome
-
People with systemic conditions such as heart disease or diabetes
If blood pressure or pulse changes easily, treatment may be needed in a stable sedated state.
-
People whose past treatment experience remains traumatic
For those who want the memory of treatment itself to become faint

The safety of midazolam and responses during treatment
Midazolam, used for conscious sedation therapy,
is a stable medication widely used in medical settings.
With its quick action, maintenance of spontaneous breathing,
preservation of responsiveness, and reduction of pain and anxiety,
it lowers fear of treatment, and from the medical staff's perspective,
it can be considered an option that allows precise and efficient care.

Precautions before conscious sedation therapy
For safer sedation therapy,
there are a few things to keep in mind.
Fasting required
Avoid eating for at least 6 hours before anesthesia.
Remove fingernails/artificial nails
Gel nails, artificial nails, etc. must be removed for oxygen saturation monitoring
Inform us of your health condition in advance
If you have any other conditions besides high blood pressure or diabetes,
please be sure to consult us in advance
No driving for 24 hours
For a certain period after anesthesia, judgment ability may be reduced.
At Lucid Dental Clinic, conscious sedation therapy is
applied selectively.
It is not performed uniformly for all patients;
after consultation before treatment, the patient's condition and need are assessed, and the decision on whether to use sedation therapy is made by the medical staff.
Implants are not simply a treatment for placing teeth;
they are an important decision that affects the quality of life ahead.
However, no matter how good the treatment is,
if the fear is great, that one step can feel very far away.
Conscious sedation therapy can become a reliable stepping stone
for such patients.
Because recovery is quick after a few days,
and little memory remains of the treatment itself,
a much more comfortable treatment experience is possible psychologically as well.
Rather than simply "enduring it for a moment,"
you may need to choose a method that allows you to receive treatment stably in a way that suits you.
Lucid Dental Clinic is not just a hospital for treatment.
We want to be a clinic that shares your worries about treatment and helps you find the right solution together.
If you are not yet mentally prepared for implant treatment, please consult with us about various options, including conscious sedation therapy.
Lucid Dental Clinic knows well that more important than treatment itself are the patient's peace of mind and trust.
Comfortably and healthily,
Lucid Dental Clinic will take your first step with you.
