Hello.
I am Ahn Young-seok, the chief director of Make Dental Clinic.
It is easy to think of laminate veneer treatment as simply a process of
attaching something to the teeth.
But to maintain a healthy and beautiful smile
for a long time,
from diagnosing the condition of the teeth → establishing a treatment plan →
reshaping the teeth if necessary → making the laminate veneers
→ final bonding,
a delicate and systematic process is carried out
step by step.
Questions many patients have,
such as the number of visits, whether anesthesia is used, and how much pain to expect,
are also decided within this process.
If you understand each step of the treatment in advance,
you can prepare for treatment with much more peace of mind
rather than vague worry.

- Consultation and precise diagnosis
Before deciding on the treatment,
the most important step is consultation and precise diagnosis.
This is a very important step in creating the treatment plan.
It is best to honestly tell the medical team about your concerns and expectations,
for example, what kind of smile you want,
or whether you have any discomfort in your teeth or gums.
Based on this, the medical team comprehensively analyzes the oral environment, alignment and shape,
gum condition, bite relationship, as well as the face shape and
lip line.
In addition, through X-rays, oral scans, and photos,
they carefully check areas that are difficult to see with the naked eye,
and based on this, they create a plan tailored to the patient’s condition.
Rather than simple teeth whitening or orthodontics,
we design your own natural beauty.
- Tooth reduction and impression taking
Once the treatment is decided through precise diagnosis,
the process moves into the actual treatment stage.
This is usually the second visit,
when tooth reduction and impression taking are performed.
Many people may worry when they hear the word “reduction,”
but laminate veneers follow the principle of minimal reduction,
reshaping only the front surface of the teeth to about 0.3 to 0.7 mm.
During this process, local anesthesia is administered
to reduce pain.
There may be a slight sting when the injection is given,
but you will feel little to no pain while the teeth are being reshaped.
Once the teeth are prepared, an accurate impression is taken
to obtain the tooth model needed for fabrication.
Recently, digital scanners are also used
for a convenient scanning process.

- Laminate veneer fabrication period
After the tooth reduction and impression taking are completed,
a certain fabrication period is needed before placement.
Based on the impression taken from the patient’s teeth,
a dental technician at the dental lab fabricates the veneers while referring to the shape, size, and color.
They are not simple mass-produced items.
They are made over 충분한 time and through a thorough process,
considering color and translucency that harmonize with natural teeth,
and preserving both aesthetics and function.
During the fabrication period,
patients can maintain daily life relatively comfortably
by wearing temporary laminate veneers.

- Finally, laminate veneer bonding
When the fabricated veneers arrive at the clinic,
the process moves to the final bonding stage.
This is also the moment many patients look forward to the most.
The medical team tries the fabricated veneers on the teeth
and checks the color, shape, and bite.
Once the check is complete, the surface is prepared
and the veneers are bonded using an adhesive.
At this time, there may be a slight feeling of pressure or a sour sensation,
but in most cases it does not lead to pain.
After bonding, any remaining adhesive is removed,
and the bite is finely adjusted
to make sure there is no discomfort.
Laminate veneers can produce results that are worlds apart
depending on who performs them and how.
- How many visits does it usually take to complete?
The number of visits may vary depending on the condition and scope of treatment,
but in general, treatment is often completed in about 2 to 3 visits.
| ✅ First visit | Consultation and precise diagnosis, and establishment of the treatment plan |
|---|
| ✅ Second visit | Tooth reduction (if necessary) and impression taking or digital scanning, then temporary laminate veneers are attached for use during the fabrication period |
| ✅ Third visit | Bonding of the fabricated veneers, bite adjustment, and finishing |
If multiple teeth are treated at the same time,
or if a larger amount of reduction requires additional checks,
you may need to come in one or two more times.
Therefore, the number of visits should be decided
in consultation with the medical team after diagnosis.

In particular, many patients are most worried about pain during the procedure.
To reduce the pain and discomfort that may be felt during treatment,
we apply several methods.
| First, after applying a topical anesthetic, local anesthesia is administered to reduce discomfort during the procedure |
|---|
| Second, care is taken to reduce irritation while reshaping the teeth so that the procedure can proceed smoothly. |
| Third, the medical team checks the patient’s condition and discomfort from time to time during the procedure and communicates with the patient. |
If you feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure,
please raise your hand and let the medical team know at any time.
If necessary, you can take a short break, or additional anesthesia can be given,
so that the procedure can proceed more comfortably.
Careful management so that patients can receive treatment with peace of mind
is an important role of the medical team.
Make Dental Clinic considers not only the result but also satisfaction with the process.
- Management and checkups are needed until the end.
Just because the procedure is finished
does not mean everything is over.
Regular follow-up care is needed to check whether the veneers are well bonded,
whether the bite is stable, and what the gum health is like.
In addition, following post-procedure precautions
and maintaining proper oral hygiene are also important.
Avoid hard or chewy foods,
and if you have a teeth-grinding habit, use a protective device.
These kinds of management are necessary.
In this way, when the medical team’s checkups and the patient’s care
are carried out together, the laminate veneers and
a new smile can be maintained for a long time.
Thank you.
