Hello, this is Make Dental Clinic 😊
Have you ever looked in the mirror and noticed a black triangle between your teeth?
Or has the empty space between your teeth (black triangle) been gradually getting larger?
If you thought, “I should be more careful when brushing,” wait a moment!
Among the people who come in for consultations, many think it’s because they brush poorly,
but it’s not a brushing problem, and it’s not a hygiene problem!

❓ What is a black triangle?
It is a space that looks dark and triangular between two teeth, near the top of the gum line.
In professional terms, it’s called an “interdental black triangle.”
🔍 Why does it happen?
✅ It can happen as the gums recede. As we get older,
after orthodontic treatment, or due to gum disease, the gum tissue that
fills the space between teeth (the papilla) shrinks, creating a triangular space.
✅ In some cases, the shape of the teeth itself is the cause. If the teeth get wider toward the top,
a space can naturally appear at the gum line.
✅ It can also appear newly after orthodontic treatment!
If the teeth move but the original gum tissue cannot follow,
black triangles may appear after treatment is completed.
💡 How is it treated?
It depends on the condition and position of the teeth,
✔️ adjusting the shape of the teeth with laminate veneers, or
✔️ removing a tiny amount of enamel between the teeth (IPR) to eliminate the space,
✔️ or combining these with gum contouring.
