Depending on the severity of a cavity, several treatment methods may be used.

Of course, the larger the area of decay,

the more differently the treatment method will be applied,

and the higher the cost,

which is why people say you should go to the dentist before it hurts.

If the area of decay

is not very large

and root canal treatment is not needed,

the tooth is simply filled with resin

or treated with inlay/onlay.

Of course, in addition to resin,

you can choose G.I. or amalgam, which are covered by the national health insurance.

However, G.I.

has high adhesion but low strength,

so it wears down quickly in everyday life,

and amalgam contains mercury, which raises concerns about harmful heavy metals,

so resin is recommended.

If the area of decay

is larger than expected

and root canal treatment is needed,

a crown is placed using zirconia, gold, or other materials.

This is called cavity treatment crown.

When root canal treatment has been performed,

the amount of tooth removed is large, so

an inlay or onlay made of resin or similar materials

cannot restore the tooth’s function.

Rather than “filling in” the removed portion of the tooth,

the tooth must be “covered” with a crown.

Such crowns are used for

not only deep cavities,

but also

large cracks in a tooth

widely spaced front teeth

If the area of decay

can no longer be treated,

extraction and cavity treatment implant are performed.

This is called cavity treatment implant.

If, even after root canal treatment,

the tooth was left restored with a material weaker than a crown,

the tooth would continue to wear down more and more in daily life.

As the weak restoration wears away,

even if you try to place a new restoration,

if the tooth has already been worn down too much,

it can no longer be restored,

and since it will no longer have the strength to support a crown,

it has to be extracted.

Such cavity treatment implants are used for

extractions caused by untreated cavities,

as well as

loss of natural teeth for various reasons
