Hello.
This is Kim Ha-won from Beautys Doctors.
If you are considering lip fillers,
the part you are probably most curious about is
'How much will it hurt?'
Today, I’ll explain in detail everything from the level of pain with lip fillers
to useful precautions and a review.
Is lip filler really painful?

This photo was taken with the subject’s consent, and the procedure results may vary by individual.
First, I want to say that
the feeling of pain from lip fillers
can vary greatly from person to person.
For some people, it may not hurt at all,
while for others it may feel a bit uncomfortable.
Still, speaking from general experience,
the pain from lip fillers
is more tolerable than you might expect.
Why isn’t the pain severe?
First, very fine needles are used
The needles used for lip fillers are
quite thin,
so the stinging sensation is minimized.
Second, there is an anesthetic process
Before the procedure, anesthetic cream is applied,
or the filler product itself contains
an anesthetic ingredient such as lidocaine,
which helps reduce the pain from lip fillers.
Third, the procedure time is short
Injecting about 1cc of lip filler
takes relatively little time,
so there is no need to endure discomfort for long.
In fact, most people who have received the procedure
say things like “just a slight sting” or “it was perfectly tolerable.”
What if you are worried about pain?
If you are particularly sensitive
to the pain of lip fillers,
please consult thoroughly with the medical professional in charge
before the procedure.
By adjusting whether a cannula is used,
additional anesthesia options,
and the 1cc volume of lip filler,
a much more comfortable procedure is possible.
Important precautions you should know about lip fillers

You’re getting the procedure for beautiful lips,
so if an unexpected problem occurs,
that would be really upsetting, wouldn’t it?
Here are the precautions you should know in advance.
- Bruising and swelling are natural reactions
This is not so much a side effect
as part of the recovery process.
As the injection needle goes in,
it can touch a small blood vessel,
and bruising or swelling may appear
as a result.
Bruising
Usually disappears within 1–2 weeks
Swelling
Generally subsides in about 3 days to a week
Of course, experienced medical professionals
will minimize bleeding
and take immediate action
to prevent bruising from spreading too much,
but please keep in mind that
some degree of bruising or swelling
may still occur.
However, if bruising or swelling continues
for more than a month,
please be sure to visit the clinic
for an examination.
2. Nodules or clumping
As the filler is injected,
sometimes a small lump-like nodule may form
under the skin,
or the filler may clump on one side.
This usually happens when too much is injected at once
or when the procedure is performed at an inaccurate location.
In severe cases, pain may occur,
and in rare cases, blood supply to the surrounding tissue
may be blocked,
causing the skin to turn pale
or develop dark discoloration,
leading to necrosis.
Necrosis is an extremely rare case,
but the possibility is not zero,
so injecting the proper amount
into the correct area is key.

Tips for safer lip fillers

Before the procedure: 2023.08.03 / After touch-up: 2023.08.14 ※ This photo was taken after the customer’s consent, and the procedure results may vary by individual.
To briefly summarize what I’ve said so far:
The pain is mostly at a tolerable level
Thanks to anesthesia and very fine needles,
you can receive the procedure more comfortably than expected.
Swelling and bruising improve within a few days
They are temporary,
so please do not worry too much.
Accurate procedures help prevent side effects
Injecting the proper amount
into the correct location
is the most important thing.
Lip fillers are a relatively simple procedure,
but that is precisely why the practitioner’s experience and skill
greatly affect the outcome.
Through sufficient consultation,
find the method that is right for you,
and I hope you receive the procedure
at a trustworthy clinic.
If you have any more questions
about lip fillers,
please feel free to leave them anytime.
I’ll do my best to answer helpfully.
Thank you for reading this long post!
