Hello.
This is Kim Ha-won from Beauty’s Doctors.
The less facial fat a person has,
the more they tend to worry
when choosing a lifting procedure.
But there is one thing we need to point out
before moving on.
Just because it is Shurink Universe
does not mean it is automatically a gentle and safe procedure.
In fact, if Shurink Universe is performed
with the energy settings and treatment areas properly planned,
it can produce a fairly powerful lifting effect,
whereas if it is delivered too aggressively in areas that can hollow out,
it can also potentially cause cheek hollowing.

So Shurink Universe is better suited as a lifting device for
💫 people in their 20s to 30s who do not have severe sagging
💫 maintenance or boosting purposes after Ulthera treatment
for these kinds of cases.
Today, I’ll summarize the price and effects of Shurink Universe 300 shots,
the differences compared with Ulthera,
and how to maximize the effects even with the same Shurink treatment.
Shurink Universe vs. Ulthera

First, when it comes to price,
the difference is quite large.
Shurink Universe
KRW 100,000 to 200,000 for 300 shots
Ulthera
KRW 1,000,000 to 1,500,000 for 300 shots
Looking only at the price,
it is natural to think,
"If the price difference is this big, wouldn’t the effect be completely different too?"
To give the conclusion first,
there is definitely a difference in effect.
Ulthera is one of the high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU)
lifting devices
and is known for creating thermal coagulation points
more precisely than others.
There are even research papers
that compare them.
That is why clinics choose and use Ulthera
even while accepting the higher cost of the device and tips.
Then how big is the difference
in terms of how it feels?
Based on my personal clinical experience,
the effect of Shurink Universe often feels
at about 60% of Ulthera’s level.
However, there is a very important condition here.
That is, "how the procedure is performed."
How to Properly Maximize the Effects of Shurink Universe
Energy settings are key
Even with the same 300 shots,
the result can be completely different
depending on the energy settings.
To get the full benefit of Shurink Universe,
it is important not just to fill the shot count,
but to deliver the treatment with sufficiently strong energy.
For the 4.5 mm cartridge
→ 0.6J or higher is recommended
(For reference, Ulthera’s standard setting is about 0.9J.)
Shurink can be adjusted from 0.1J
to 1.0J,
and lowering the energy reduces pain
and makes the procedure end faster.
Because of that, it is not uncommon for some clinics to perform the procedure
at uniformly low energy settings.
(We do not recommend this.)
DOT mode rather than MP mode
Shurink Universe added the MP (Micropulse) mode,
which was not available in the original Shurink.
This mode does not create thermal coagulation points;
instead, it spreads the energy over a relatively broad area.
From the clinic’s perspective,
it has the advantage of shorter procedure time and convenience,
but in terms of actual lifting effect,
the question remains.
In particular, Ulthera, the original HIFU device,
does not even have this concept.
So personally, I recommend
delivering the treatment honestly in DOT mode.

Design is not optional; it is essential
When lying down,
the actually hollowed or sunken areas are not easy to see.
To minimize cheek hollowing
and maximize the effect with a limited number of 300 shots,
a pre-treatment design is absolutely necessary.
If you are considering which clinic to visit,
be sure to check whether they do design planning.
Shurink Universe Q&A
Q1. How many sessions of Shurink Universe
are needed?
Some people feel a lifting change
after just one Shurink Universe session,
but most people plan for 2 to 3 sessions
at 3- to 6-month intervals.
Rather than a treatment that lasts a long time after just one session like Ulthera,
it is better understood as a procedure
that regularly manages elasticity.
Q2. When does the effect of Shurink Universe
start to appear?
Immediately after the procedure,
many people feel that their face looks more settled
as swelling goes down,
and the actual lifting effect often appears gradually
starting about 2 to 4 weeks later.
This is because the collagen regeneration process
is needed after the ultrasound stimulation.
Q3. My face is on the small side.
Isn’t 300 shots of Shurink Universe too many?
What matters more than face size
is not the number of shots itself,
but how they are distributed.
Even with 300 shots,
the perceived result can vary greatly depending on
⭐ where they are placed
⭐ at what depth
⭐ and how they are divided and delivered
For smaller faces,
rather than forcing the shots into a dense pattern,
a balanced, area-by-area distribution
is more important.
Q4. Can the face look
thinner after Shurink?
It is possible.
In particular,
⭐ the area below the cheekbones
⭐ the fat layer in the center of the cheeks
if these are thin,
the treatment location may make cheek hollowing
look more pronounced.
That is why Shurink also needs to be performed
with the facial structure in mind.
Shurink Universe is not a "lightly done" lifting procedure.
Depending on how it is designed, where it is applied,
and at what intensity it is performed,
the results can change significantly.
That is why, even with the same 300 shots,
some people are satisfied while others feel disappointed.
After accurately identifying the thickness and structure of your face,
and the direction of lifting you currently need,
choosing the right method for that,
that is the most important thing.
Rather than deciding based only on price or shot count,
I hope you will think once more about whether it is the lifting strategy that suits you.
Thank you for reading.
