Hello.
This is Kim Jang-ju from Hapjeong Dermatology.
When you are considering a lifting procedure,
one of the names you hear most often is Shurink.
But once the consultation starts,
questions like these naturally come up:
“What's the difference between Shurink and Shurink Universe?”
“Is it effective for a double chin or the jawline?”
“Why is it cheaper than Ulthera?”
Today, based on the questions I receive most often in the clinic,
I’ll organize and explain the key points you should know
about Shurink lifting.
Shurink vs. Shurink Universe
What has changed?
Shurink Universe
is a more advanced version
of the existing Shurink device.
The biggest difference is the energy delivery method.
- The energy delivery speed has increased
- The delivered energy has become more uniform
In addition, with the addition of a booster (round tip),
skin adhesion has improved and discomfort during the procedure has been reduced,
allowing for a much more comfortable treatment.
However, more important than the device name is
how the appropriate tip and energy are actually used
based on the current thickness and elasticity of the skin.
If you are looking into Hapjeong Dermatology,
rather than just which device is used,
it is also worth checking whether they explain
how that device is operated.
You can use that as one of your criteria.
The core of Shurink design | Changes in the facial line depending on posture

Lifting design
changes depending on posture.
Because subcutaneous fat tends to shift under the force of gravity
when you are lying down,
it may look different from the actual direction of sagging.
That is why Shurink design
is more advantageous when performed while seated.
If you are searching for Hapjeong Dermatology,
one thing you should definitely check is whether the doctor personally looks at your facial condition before the procedure
and designs the treatment while considering changes according to posture.
Even for the same Shurink procedure,
whether or not this process is included
can clearly make a difference in the results you feel.
Can Shurink also be effective for a double chin?
The reason a double chin appears
is not simply because of fat.
In many cases, it happens because the collagen structure
that supports the area between the muscles and subcutaneous fat becomes weakened and stretches.
In such cases, Shurink
- induces collagen production
- helps lift sagging tissue upward
It may be easier to understand as if a fishing line
is hooking the lower part and pulling it upward.
During a consultation at Hapjeong Dermatology,
rather than approaching a double chin with a procedure right away,
it is important to check whether they first distinguish
whether it is sagging, fat, or a combination of causes.
Does it also help with V-line shaping?
When Shurink is applied below the jawline,
the tissue around the jawbone contracts,
which can help make the lower face line appear more defined.
If facial contours have become blurred
or the jawline has become less distinct,
Shurink can be an effective choice
for restoring contour.
However, the jawline area involves
fat, muscle, and skin elasticity all at once,
so the direction and depth of the treatment plan are more important than the number of shots alone.

Why is Shurink cheaper than Ulthera?
When it comes to the price difference,
some people ask,
“Does that mean the effect is cheaper too?”
However, the difference in cost comes more from the structure and precision of the device itself,
and from the price of the equipment,
rather than from whether it works or not.

As a lifting device that is easy to access,
Shurink can play a sufficient role in routine elasticity care
when it is well designed to match the condition of the face.
Even when choosing Hapjeong Dermatology,
rather than recommending only strong procedures without exception,
whether they explain the intensity appropriate for your current stage
can be one of the criteria.
Shurink and Ulthera, which hurts more?

Both procedures involve
similar levels of pain.
However, in my personal experience,
Ulthera seems to hurt a little more.
Pain varies depending on individual sensitivity,
and for both procedures,
pain can be minimized with anesthetic cream.
If you are in your 50s or 60s and the sagging is severe, will Shurink still be effective?
Even when aging has progressed significantly,
if the number of shots and energy are adjusted sufficiently,
it is still possible to expect
some degree of elasticity improvement.
However, at this stage,
lifting alone is often not enough,
and tightening or volume improvement
is often needed as well.
- If a stronger lift is needed: Ulthera
- For tightening around the eyes and fine wrinkles: Eye Shurink, Derma Shurink
In the treatment process at Hapjeong Dermatology,
it is worth checking whether they honestly explain the limitations by age group
and offer alternatives as well.
Will it also help with early nasolabial folds?
If the nasolabial fold is not deeply etched
but is a type covered by sagging skin,
there is room to expect an effect.
By setting the lifting direction mainly around the cheekbone line and the area around the nasolabial folds,
it can help improve early nasolabial folds.
However, deeply etched nasolabial folds
are difficult to fully improve with Shurink alone,
and in that case,
it is more effective to consider volume procedures such as fillers as well.

Much of what I explained today
varies depending on the condition of the skin,
so there are limits to judging it on your own.
For an accurate diagnosis of your current condition,
the safest option is to consult with an experienced medical professional at a nearby clinic.
