“Rather than just making the lips look fuller,
I’d like the overall impression to feel more refined.”
Hello.
I’m Kim Ga-eul from Beautys Doctors.
In the past, many people focused mainly on
the lips’ volume itself,
but these days,
there is growing preference for an approach that looks at
the overall balance around the mouth,
including the lip line, corners of the mouth, and the ratio of the philtrum.
In fact, even in consultations at Gangseo Dermatology Clinic,
we often hear requests like this: to refine the impression in a natural way.
Perhaps because of that, more and more people are naturally asking about
lip filler and corner-of-the-mouth botox together.
The two procedures each have their own value when done separately,
but because their roles are different,
there are many cases where the result is much more natural when they are done together.
Today,
I’ll talk in a little more detail about
how lip filler and corner-of-the-mouth botox work together.

- Why consider lip filler and corner-of-the-mouth botox together?
The area around the mouth has a bigger impact on facial impression
than many people expect.
It’s not a feature like the eyes or nose
that creates a large visible change,
but even a slight difference in the curve of the lips
or the direction of the mouth corners
can noticeably change the overall mood.
For example,
if only the lip volume is filled,
the corners of the mouth may look relatively lower,
which can make the face seem heavier.
On the other hand,
if only corner-of-the-mouth botox is performed,
the direction of the mouth corners may improve,
but the lip line may remain unrefined,
leaving a slightly awkward feeling.
So when the two procedures are considered together,
the contour of the lips can be refined while the direction of the mouth corners is gently corrected,
and the overall flow from the center of the lips to the corners of the mouth becomes naturally connected.
In other words, it is easier to understand this as an approach that designs the impression around the mouth,
rather than simply creating volume.
In fact, many Gangseo Dermatology Clinic patients prefer this kind of design that considers overall balance.
- Does lip filler really need to be a lot?
(When 1cc is enough)

When people hear “lip filler,” many first imagine
“a procedure that makes the lips bigger.”
But in actual treatment,
rather than simply filling volume,
✔ lip line refinement
✔ lip peak shape
✔ left-right balance
✔ ratio with the philtrum
these kinds of factors are considered together.
That is why, during consultations at Gangseo Dermatology Clinic, many people share concerns such as these:
👄 When the lip peak is blurred and the shape looks plain
👄 When the left and right lip lines are slightly asymmetrical
👄 When the lips are thin and give a cold impression
👄 When the center of the upper lip is indented, creating a “peanut-shaped lip”
👄 When the philtrum looks relatively long
In these cases,
rather than adding excessive volume,
about 1cc of filler alone can be enough to create a meaningful change.

What matters at this point is
making sure the lips do not look overly protruded.
✔ whether they match the overall facial line
✔ whether they connect naturally with the corners of the mouth
These two points
should be considered together.
That is why I think
for lip filler, design is more important than amount.
This is also something we always emphasize during Gangseo Dermatology Clinic consultations.
- How long does it last?
One of the most common questions from people considering treatment
is the duration of the effect.
At Gangseo Dermatology Clinic as well,
the most common question during consultation is this very point.
For lip filler,
it usually lasts about 6 months to 1 year.
However, depending on the type of filler used,
a person’s constitution, lifestyle habits, and other factors,
there can be differences in how quickly it is absorbed.
So before the procedure,
it is best to receive a thorough explanation about
✔ what type of filler is being used
✔ what the filler’s characteristics are
✔ how long it is expected to last
and then decide.
Corner-of-the-mouth botox
usually lasts about 3 to 4 months.
Because botox works by controlling muscle movement,
its effect gradually decreases over time,
and the muscles return to their original movement.
That is why many people maintain corner-of-the-mouth botox through regular management.
This is also something we often explain during consultations at Gangseo Dermatology Clinic.
And if you want the results to last a little more stably,
retouching is sometimes used.
Compared with waiting until the filler has completely worn off and then repeating the procedure,
if a small amount is added while some filler remains,
it often maintains a much more natural and softer look.
- The most common questions before and after treatment (Q&A)
Q. Is 1cc enough?
A. If you are having lip filler for the first time,
in many cases about 1cc is enough for basic correction.
Because the lips are a small area,
rather than starting with a large amount from the beginning,
adjusting little by little is often more natural
and leads to higher satisfaction.
Q. Is it okay to try corner-of-the-mouth botox first?
A. Yes, it is possible.
If you want to soften your facial impression without focusing on lip volume,
some people choose to start with corner-of-the-mouth botox alone.
Q. Will there be bruising or swelling?
A. Because the lips are an area with many blood vessels,
bruising can occur depending on the individual.
In most cases,
it tends to settle naturally within about 2 to 3 days,
and there is often no major disruption to daily life.
However, if you have an important schedule,
it is recommended to plan the procedure with enough time in advance.
✦
Lip filler and corner-of-the-mouth botox
are not simply procedures that create volume;
I think of them as a process of finding lines that suit my face.
Even small points like the lips or mouth corners
are closely connected to the overall facial impression,
so rather than looking at only one part,
a design approach that considers the overall flow is needed.
If this is your first time having a procedure,
rather than making a big change,
I recommend checking through a thorough consultation at Gangseo Dermatology Clinic
what kind of design suits you best.
Thank you for reading this long post.
