Hello.

I am Kim Jin-hyeon, Chief Director of the Mokdong branch of U&I Clinic.

“Rejuran is something a lot of people are getting on social media or around them these days. What kind of treatment is it?”

“Can it really change my skin?”

These seem to be questions I hear very often lately. You may become curious about the treatment after hearing about it, but in fact, it is not easy to come across a clear explanation.

So today, I’d like to personally explain what “Rejuran” is.

Mokdong Rejuran What is Rejuran?

Rejuran, commonly also called the “salmon injection,” is a substance made by purifying and processing PN, a DNA fragment extracted from salmon, through a specific process.

PN has been studied as an ingredient that induces skin regeneration by mimicking the wound-healing mechanisms involved in tissue repair.

When this PN ingredient is directly injected into the dermal layer of the skin using a syringe, it stimulates the cells, promotes collagen production, and can help restore damaged tissue.

In this process, recovery of the skin barrier and improved moisture retention can also be expected, which may help with overall elasticity management.

Because it is an injection, many people confuse it with fillers.

Fillers are strongly intended to immediately add volume, whereas Rejuran is a treatment that mainly aims to regenerate tissue and improve the skin’s microstructure.

They have completely different mechanisms, so I hope you won’t confuse the two^^

Mokdong Rejuran What can it help with?

Then shall we take a closer look at what areas Rejuran can help with? First of all, as PN stimulates new collagen formation, it can encourage the cellular layer to become thicker and thereby increase elasticity.

Although it varies from person to person, in many cases you need at least 2 to 3 treatment sessions to feel a sufficient level of change.

(That does not mean there are no changes after one session. I’m referring to the usual number of sessions needed until a sufficiently satisfying change is observed.)

It may also help reduce fine lines.

As hydration and collagen support are provided in the dermal layer, you can expect shallow wrinkles to become somewhat smoother.

But can it really help with acne-prone skin?

If you look online, you’ll see that Rejuran is often recommended for acne care, so many people wonder whether it really helps.

So I’ll explain the relationship between acne treatment and Rejuran in a bit more depth.

Acne is a condition caused by a combination of factors such as overactive sebaceous glands, keratinization, and bacterial proliferation.

Rejuran, however, is a treatment that works by injecting PN into the dermal layer to mainly promote tissue regeneration and collagen synthesis.

In other words, it is somewhat far removed from inhibiting sebum and bacteria, which are the direct causes of acne.

So personally, I would not recommend Rejuran for the purpose of relieving acne itself.

However, acne-prone skin may have reduced barrier function as inflammation repeatedly occurs,

and in that case, the regenerative promotion from Rejuran’s PN ingredient may contribute in part to strengthening the barrier.

Also, if acne scars involve damage to the dermal layer, collagen synthesis may help improve the scars to some extent.

In other words, while it may not directly calm inflammatory acne itself, it may help with scar management and skin recovery after acne treatment.

Even so, there are people who want Rejuran treatment for acne-prone skin after hearing that it is good from people around them.

If sebum and inflammation are very active, the needle entering the inflamed area may actually increase additional irritation or the risk of infection.

So in such cases, I recommend first considering antibiotics, extraction, and laser treatment.

In other words, rather than proceeding immediately during a period when inflammatory lesions are severe, it is better to approach it after the condition has somewhat calmed down.

Mokdong Rejuran Rejuran precautions

Because Rejuran is an injection procedure, bruising, redness, or marks may appear at the injection site.

However, these are usually temporary and subside naturally, so you do not need to feel a major burden in your daily life.

That said, after the procedure, it is best to avoid activities that may expose the skin to excessive heat and irritation, such as strenuous exercise, drinking alcohol, and sauna use, for a few days.

Also, since permanent changes cannot be expected from a single treatment, you should keep in mind that repeated treatments at certain intervals may be necessary depending on the progress.

“Are there any allergic reactions?”

Although PN is known to be highly biocompatible, because this is an injection procedure, a small number of people may have sensitive reactions.

Therefore, it is recommended to proceed after sufficient consultation with the medical staff.

“When will the changes start to appear?”

True tissue regeneration happens gradually over several weeks to several months.

Rather than expecting immediate changes, you need to manage it calmly with patience.

“Is Rejuran worth the cost and time?”

Although there are certainly individual differences, you can probably find many reviews online saying that repeated treatments improved skin texture.

However, as with any treatment, rather than having excessive expectations, it is advisable to first clearly find out through skin diagnosis and consultation whether it is a treatment suited to your skin type, and then proceed.
