Yangcheon-gu Botox: When Do Noticeable Changes Begin to Appear?
Yangcheon-gu Botox

Hello.
I am Kim Jin-hyeon, chief director of the Mokdong branch of UNNI Clinic.
Among the treatments many people consider along with fillers is Botox.
However, Botox and fillers differ greatly in both purpose and principle.
While fillers are products that add volume to supplement areas that are lacking,
Botox focuses on improving wrinkles or the function of specific muscles by weakening or inhibiting muscle activity.
Another key characteristic of Botox, unlike fillers, is that it is difficult to immediately feel a change at the treatment site right after the procedure.
So, when can you actually observe noticeable changes from Botox?
I’ll explain it quickly in just 3 minutes.

How Botox Works
Botox is a product that uses botulinum toxin.
More specifically, it is a neurotoxin produced by a bacterium called Clostridium botulinum,

This toxin blocks the release of a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine at the junction between nerves and muscles, temporarily paralyzing the muscle.
Many people wonder whether it acts directly on the skin or on the muscles.
Botox mainly acts on the muscles.
Among facial wrinkles, dynamic wrinkles caused by facial expressions are formed as the muscles move, and injecting Botox into these areas weakens muscle movement and helps soften wrinkles.
That is why Botox makes a major contribution to improving expression lines such as forehead wrinkles, frown lines, and crow’s feet.
It is also widely used to slim the facial contour by injecting it into the jaw muscles,
and it is sometimes used to reduce the size of large muscles such as the calf gastrocnemius.
It is somewhat far from the idea that Botox directly acts on the skin to improve elasticity or add volume.
In conclusion, Botox helps stabilize the muscles used for facial expressions and indirectly improves wrinkles by reducing excessive movement :)

When Can You Feel the Changes?

Unlike fillers, which create an immediate volume change upon injection, Botox does not show visible changes right away on the day of the injection.
Because the neurotransmitters in the muscle gradually become blocked by Botox and muscle function slowly declines,
generally after about 2 to 3 days, you may start to feel that muscle movement has become somewhat sluggish and expression lines have slightly softened.
Of course, individual differences exist, and it may vary depending on the treatment area, the dosage, and your body’s response.
After about 1 to 2 weeks, the treated area typically settles in to some extent, and this is when changes such as wrinkle softening or a reduction in muscle prominence become more clearly visible.
Unfortunately, these changes are not permanent.
Because muscles continuously create new neuromuscular junctions and the effects of Botox gradually wear off, it typically lasts about 3 to 6 months on average.
(Of course, this also varies from person to person.)

What If Side Effects Appear?
Botox is generally considered a relatively low-burden procedure,
but there are rare cases where facial expressions become unnatural after the procedure or muscles outside the intended area become excessively paralyzed.
This can happen if the dosage is set too high or if Botox spreads to nearby muscles rather than the intended area.
Unlike fillers, there is no injection that can immediately remove Botox’s ingredients.
Instead, it is naturally broken down by the body over time, and the muscles gradually regain their original function.
So there is no need to worry too much, but it is advisable to clearly inform the medical staff of your condition early after the procedure and receive follow-up observation.

Also, if the degree of muscle development is not sufficiently considered or the injection site is set very slightly incorrectly, over-paralysis or asymmetry may occur.
If the dosage is too low, balance can be adjusted with an additional injection, but if too much has been injected, you will have to wait until the effect naturally weakens.
Therefore, from the beginning, please make sure that the procedure is performed directly by medical staff with extensive Botox experience who carefully measure the fine areas.

Botox is a procedure that acts on muscles to help improve wrinkles or change facial contours. It is not a procedure that makes wrinkles disappear on the same day like magic.
It is a procedure that gradually induces changes by slowly reducing muscle movement.
It is best to keep this in mind when deciding on the procedure, and for more satisfying results, the key is how delicately the dosage and injection sites are determined.
In other words, the treatment plan should be established after comprehensively assessing the structure of the facial muscles, expression patterns, and the depth of the wrinkles.
If you approach the procedure with a systematic diagnosis and treatment plan together with experienced medical staff, you will be able to get closer to a satisfying result.
