Mokdong InMode

Hello.
I’m Kim Jin-hyeon, the chief director at Yeon & I Clinic Mokdong Branch.
“My cheeks are full, so my face looks round.”
“I’ve been told I look older because of my double chin.”
Some of you may have clicked on this article because you’ve been worrying about your face shape lately.
As interest in lifting and anti-aging procedures has recently increased,
more and more people want to improve both skin elasticity and facial fat with treatments like InMode.
However, simply choosing a lifting device may not be enough.
If facial fat is your concern, there is a limit to simple lifting procedures, and it is important to first understand how fat reduction and tightening effects are achieved.
So today, I’ll focus on the differences between InMode’s two modes, FX and FORMA,
and explain in what cases and how the procedure may be helpful.
If you’ve been concerned about facial fat and wondering, “Which method is right for me?”, I hope this article helps you make your choice.

Simple lifting alone
may not be enough
Most people think first of a procedure that pulls the skin and improves elasticity when they hear about facial lifting.
Of course, this approach may be appropriate if your main concern is skin that looks less elastic.
But the story changes when facial fat, especially in areas like a double chin or buccal fat, is more prominent.

In such cases, it may be difficult to achieve satisfying results with a lifting procedure that only tightens the skin.
Even after treatment, some people feel, “Why does it seem like there’s not much difference?” and others feel that the lifting effect does not last very long.
Why is that? Because improving only the elasticity of the skin surface makes it hard to address the volume created by subcutaneous fat.
A procedure that only improves elasticity does not reduce the fat layer itself, so although sagging tissue may appear temporarily lifted, the face line does not become noticeably sharper.

In this case, an approach that targets subcutaneous fat, not just skin elasticity, is needed.
That is why devices like InMode, which directly reduce fat, have recently been attracting more attention.
Rather than simply lifting, it is a “slimming and refining lift,” which can be much more suitable for those concerned about facial fat.

InMode FX vs FORMA,
what is the difference?
InMode is divided into two modes, and each has slightly different mechanisms and purposes.
The results you can expect also vary depending on which mode is mainly used for the treatment.
InMode FX mode
First, the FX mode focuses on reducing subcutaneous fat.
During treatment, the skin is held in place like it is being pinched, while radiofrequency and high voltage are delivered together to destroy fat cells in that area.
Because of this, the FX mode can be effective for those concerned that their face looks large because they have a lot of fat, such as in the double chin or cheeks.
InMode FORMA mode
In contrast, the FORMA mode gently glides over the skin surface while delivering radiofrequency to the dermis.
In this process, fibroblasts are stimulated and collagen is newly produced, which is key to improving skin elasticity.
In other words, FORMA focuses less on reducing fat and more on firming the skin itself.

So if you have a lot of facial fat and also poor elasticity, treatment is often performed using both FX and FORMA together.
This approach reduces fat while also supporting elasticity so the skin does not sag.
Even with the same device, the treatment purpose changes completely depending on which tip is used and how deep the treatment is delivered, so it is best to decide this after sufficient consultation with the medical staff.

What should you check before treatment?
Even with the same device, InMode results can vary depending on treatment intensity, mode settings, and the area treated.
So the most important thing is not to choose FX or FORMA unconditionally, but to first determine “which treatment is appropriate for my face.”

For example, just because you have a lot of facial fat does not mean that strong treatment with the FX mode will always produce good results.
Some people have a relatively thin fat layer, but their face still appears large, in which case improving skin elasticity may be more helpful than simply destroying fat.
On the other hand, if the fat layer is substantial, it may be necessary to focus on FX while combining FORMA to help prevent a decline in elasticity.
Mark Vue
That is why, before treatment, it is now common to check fat distribution, skin thickness, elasticity, and other factors using precise skin diagnostic devices such as Mark Vue,
and then set the treatment direction.
Only by analyzing these factors and adjusting the intensity and mode to suit the individual can you reduce side effects such as hollow cheeks and achieve the desired results more safely.
Today, for those considering InMode in Mokdong, we looked at what to consider when facial fat is a concern.
A procedure that only improves skin elasticity is not always the right answer, and if facial fat is also part of the concern,
an approach that directly reduces fat needs to be combined for more satisfying results.
InMode is an attractive device because its two approaches, FX and FORMA, make it possible to expect both fat reduction and improved skin elasticity at the same time.

However, it is important to carefully determine through medical evaluation and consultation which mode is right for you and what area should be treated at what intensity.
If you are worried about facial fat or a double chin, you do not need to feel too burdened—starting by looking into the different options may be a good first step.
