Mokdong Fraxel
Hello.
I’m Kim Jinhyun, Chief Director at You&I Clinic Mokdong Branch.

“Fraxel is supposed to be good for scars and pores...
Is that true?”
Many of you may have heard that Fraxel is good for treating acne scars and pores.
However, it is also a procedure that can be hard to fully understand unless someone explains how it regenerates the skin and how the effects differ depending on skin type.
In this post, I’ll organize some helpful information about how Fraxel works on the skin, who it is effective for, and what you should be careful about.

Principle and Effects
Fraxel is a laser procedure based on the skin regeneration process.
It delivers microscopic laser beams to the surface of the skin, creating tiny thermal injuries throughout the skin.
Although these injuries are so small that they are hardly noticeable, the skin recognizes them as “wounds” and produces new collagen and elastin during the healing process.
As this process activates the skin’s own ability to recover, the following changes can occur.

- Improvement of acne scars and depressed scars
When fine stimulation is applied to deeply indented scar areas caused by repeated breakouts, the dermal layer gradually fills in and the skin improves toward a smoother surface.
It is difficult to remove them completely, but the visible appearance can be reduced sufficiently.
- Pore reduction and wrinkle softening
When pores appear enlarged or the skin has lost elasticity, Fraxel helps stimulate collagen production in the dermis, making the skin firmer and helping tighten the skin around the pores.
As a result, you can also expect an improvement in fine lines.

- Improved skin texture and tone:
Even skin that has become bumpy and rough on the surface can feel more refined as old dead skin cells and damaged tissue are removed and new skin comes in.
With repeated treatments, the skin tone can become more even, and overall the skin may look more “healthy.”
Because Fraxel works in a “partial” way through scattered microscopic stimulation like dots, recovery is faster and it is relatively easy to resume normal daily life.

Points to Note by Skin Type
Even with the same Fraxel treatment, you should know that responses can differ depending on each person’s skin type.
For example, oily skin often has developed sebaceous glands and enlarged pores.
Fraxel can be expected to have positive effects in reducing pores and helping regulate sebum production.

On the other hand, for dry or sensitive skin, the skin barrier may be weaker, so irritation after the procedure can be stronger.
In such cases, the laser intensity and intervals should be adjusted, and more attention should be given to moisturizing and soothing care.
In particular, skin that is prone to hyperpigmentation must be especially careful with sun protection after the procedure.
As such, even with the same procedure, a customized approach based on skin condition and characteristics is necessary.
Rather than expecting quick results with a stronger setting, I recommend repeated treatments within a range that your skin can comfortably tolerate.

Post-Procedure Care
After Fraxel treatment, the skin becomes temporarily sensitive.
Redness, dryness, fine flaking, or scabbing may occur, but these are natural reactions as the skin regenerates.
What is important during this period is to never forcibly remove the dead skin.

Trying to speed up the scab-falling process artificially can instead lead to pigmentation or new scars.
Activities that can expose the skin to heat, such as exercise, saunas, and drinking alcohol, can interfere with skin recovery, so it is best to avoid them for at least a few days after the procedure.
Moisturizing and sun protection are also important.
UV rays are a major source of irritation for regenerating skin and can cause pigmentation, so be sure to apply sunscreen before going out and remember to avoid direct sunlight.

Today, I wrote this post to help those who are interested in Mokdong Fraxel.
Fraxel is a procedure that can help with various skin concerns, such as acne scars, enlarged pores, wrinkles, and improved skin texture.
However, rather than starting based only on reviews that say “Fraxel is good,” it is most important to approach it with the intensity and method that suit your own skin.
Therefore, I recommend deciding on the procedure only after making sure the clinic thoroughly diagnoses your skin and creates a customized treatment plan through sufficient consultation with the medical staff.
