Mok-dong Ulthera Tightening
Why It Is the Standard for Skin-Lifting Procedures
Mok-dong Ulthera
Hello.
I am Kim Jin-hyeon, Chief Director of the Mok-dong branch of You&I Clinic.

"There are too many lifting devices,
which one should I get?"
"I know Ulthera is good,
but does it really work that well?"
When you start looking into lifting procedures, you will come across so many different names, such as Shurink, InMode, and Oligio.
Just hearing the names can be confusing, and it may be difficult to judge which one is right for you.
But there is something interesting here. Even among all those devices, Ulthera is still called the standard in lifting procedures.
Today, I’d like to look at why Ulthera receives that kind of evaluation, and also at how effective it really is, including research findings.
If you read for just 3 minutes, it will help you decide whether Ulthera is the right choice for you.

Why does the phrase "Ulthera is still the standard
for lifting procedures" keep coming up?
There are really many lifting devices on the market, but the reason Ulthera is still called the standard is simple.
It was the first ultrasound lifting device to be commercialized, and its performance has also been well validated.
Recently, a new version, "Ultherapy Prime," has been released.
Ulthera works by precisely delivering ultrasound energy deep into the SMAS layer of the skin, stimulating collagen regeneration and improving elasticity.
What is the SMAS layer? It refers to a thin fascial layer between the skin and the muscle, and stimulating this layer is necessary if you want to expect a more fundamental lifting effect.

Ulthera DeepSEE
In addition, Ulthera is equipped with a technology called DeepSEE.
Thanks to this technology, the practitioner can visually check the skin layers in real time while delivering the energy.
In simple terms, it makes it possible to perform a treatment while seeing where it is being delivered. This precision is exactly why Ulthera becomes the benchmark for comparing other lifting devices.

Is it really effective?
Let’s look at the research
You may not find it convincing if I simply say it is good, so let’s look at the results of actual clinical research.

Evaluation of a Microfocused Ultrasound System for Improving Skin Laxity and Tightening in the Lower Face
In a large-scale clinical trial on improving skin laxity in the lower face, results were evaluated 90 days after Ulthera treatment in a total of 93 patients.

Figure 4. For a 47-year-old woman, the left side (A, C, E) is before treatment, and
the right side (B, D, F) is 90 days after treatment.
.
Specialists comparing before-and-after photos judged that about 58% showed improvement in jawline and neck skin laxity.
And in assessments using measurements, about 64% showed improvement in overall skin laxity.
The patients’ own satisfaction is also worth noting. About 66% said they personally felt that the laxity in the lower face and neck had improved.
What is interesting is that among patients who said they did not feel improvement, about 44% still said they were willing to undergo the treatment again.

Figure 5. For a 52-year-old woman, the left side (A, C, E) is before treatment, and
the right side (B, D, F) is 90 days after treatment.
The safety results were also reassuring.
Of the 7 adverse events in total, only 3 were related to the device, and all were mild hives that resolved naturally without any special treatment.
No side effects such as surface skin damage, burns, or pigment changes were reported.

Who is it especially suitable for?
Ulthera is indeed a good device, but it is not a treatment that works equally well for everyone. If you want real results, there are a few conditions worth considering.
One more interesting finding from the study introduced earlier was this.
The effect was relatively lower in patients with a body mass index, or BMI, of 30 or higher.
The researchers analyzed that this may be due to excessive facial fat or severe skin laxity.

So Ulthera may be more suitable for people who have some degree of skin laxity but do not have excessive facial fat.
(Conversely, even for people with very little facial fat, the same tightening effect may make hollow cheeks appear more noticeable, so caution is needed.)
It is also a good option for people who want a long-lasting effect from a single treatment and value precision.
Ulthera is less a device that is simply powerful and more a device that responds properly when it is delivered precisely.
That is why it is also important to remember that sufficient diagnosis and treatment planning before the procedure matter just as much.
So far, for those of you who are interested in Mok-dong Ulthera, I have explained why Ulthera is called the standard for lifting procedures, shared actual clinical research results, and discussed who it is especially suitable for.
To summarize, Ulthera is a proven device that allows precise treatment, and satisfactory results can be expected in patients with appropriate conditions.
However, whether it is right for you should definitely be confirmed through a consultation with a medical professional.
