Hello, this is Gangnam Leon Dental Clinic😊
Have there been any of you who
haven’t had scaling yet this year?
If so, please use the scaling health insurance benefit
that is granted only once a year
before it expires on 12/31!
Today, we’ll look at the details of the scaling benefit
and the scaling cost covered by health insurance.

Prevention & management of periodontal disease: scaling
During seasonal transitions, when the seasons change,
it is easy for immunity to drop, so health management is essential.
However, many people tend to neglect oral health.

Scaling is a treatment that prevents and manages periodontal disease
by removing tartar and bacterial film (plaque)
that accumulate on the tooth surface and between the gums.
As a basic way to maintain oral hygiene and prevent gum disease,
it is important to receive it regularly.
How can you receive
scaling with health insurance benefits?
The National Health Insurance Service provides
an annual scaling benefit
for all insured persons and dependents aged 19 and older.
The benefit is limited to once per year,
and if it is not used within that year,
it expires automatically.
✔ Eligible age and qualifications for insurance benefits
- Adults aged 19 and older
- Health insurance subscribers and dependents
In other words, anyone in Korea aged 19 or older
✔ Number of times the insurance benefit applies
Once a year
(based on 1/1~12/31 each year)

What is the cost of scaling
with health insurance benefits?
The average out-of-pocket cost for scaling
with health insurance benefits is
about 30% of the total treatment cost,
usually around the low 10,000 won range to around 20,000 won.
(There may be slight differences depending on the clinic or hospital.)
This is clearly different from the
about 50,000 to 70,000 won paid when done without insurance.

I don’t remember whether I had scaling this year
Through the National Health Insurance Service website or
the mobile app 'The 건강보험',
you can check whether you received
this year’s scaling insurance benefit,
and you can also find out by visiting a dental clinic and asking.
① Access the National Health Insurance Service page
Access through the link and log in
② Search treatment information for tartar removal
Category: Civil Service > Find Services >
Search for 'tartar removal' in keyword search >
Click 'Treatment Information Inquiry for Tartar Removal'
③ Check whether it was performed
You can confirm whether you received scaling with the insurance benefit
by checking whether it was performed / not performed.

The health insurance scaling benefit
is an essential benefit provided once a year
to adults aged 19 and older.
However, if you do not use it within the relevant year,
it expires automatically,
so we recommend making sure to take advantage of it before the end of the year.
