Implant Treatment Process

Implant treatment is completed through multiple stages, from implant placement to the attachment of the final prosthesis.

The process proceeds step by step according to an individualized treatment plan that considers the patient’s jawbone condition, bite, and implant placement sites.

① Placement of the Implant Fixture

After assessing the condition of the jawbone and the location of the nerves through a detailed examination and CT scan, the implant fixture, which serves the role of a tooth root, is placed in the jawbone according to the treatment plan.

② Osseointegration and Healing Period

A sufficient healing period is allowed so that the placed implant can become stably integrated with the surrounding jawbone.

The required period may vary depending on the patient’s jawbone condition and the implant placement site.

③ Abutment Connection

Once it has been confirmed that the implant has stably integrated with the jawbone, the abutment that connects the fixture to the final prosthesis is attached.

④ Placement of the Final Crown and Bite Check

The final crown, made to match the patient’s tooth shape and bite, is placed.

The way it meets the surrounding teeth and any discomfort while chewing are then carefully checked and adjusted.

This patient visited us because multiple teeth had been lost, resulting in a need to restore overall chewing function and the bite.

A detailed examination confirmed that not only the condition of the remaining teeth and jawbone, but also the alignment and bite relationship of the upper and lower teeth, needed to be comprehensively reconstructed.

Accordingly, rather than simply filling the spaces left by the missing teeth, we carefully adjusted the position, alignment, and contact of the upper and lower teeth.

We also developed an overall prosthetic design that sufficiently considered the boundary between the upper and lower jaws so that the prosthesis could remain stable on the gums and within the oral structures.

What Happens After Treatment?

After treatment, the areas of tooth loss were restored, and the overall bite and chewing function were checked.

Even after full-mouth implant treatment is completed, consistent maintenance is important.

Although implants themselves do not develop cavities, inflammation can occur in the surrounding gums. Therefore, the condition of the tissues around the implants should be monitored continuously through regular examinations and professional cleanings.

In addition, some patients may place excessive force on the prostheses through teeth grinding or clenching, so it is advisable to have the bite checked regularly as well.
