Gangnam Sinnonhyeon dentist, tips for choosing a cosmetic dentist in Seoul? Here’s my honest advice.
Hello. I’m Dr. Han-gyeol Kim, director of Smile View Dental Clinic.
Many people look for tips on choosing a cosmetic dentist to achieve a natural-looking smile.
When considering cosmetic treatments such as veneers, teeth whitening, or minimally invasive cosmetic tooth reshaping, many people become confused about what criteria to use after looking only at clinic reviews and advertising copy.
However, choosing a cosmetic dentist is not simply a matter of “searching” for a place with attractive photos.
I believe it is closer to making a “judgment” by first checking the diagnostic process and whether it is suited to your face and dental condition.
That is why I believe you should focus on these three criteria when choosing a cosmetic dentist:
-
Check whether they assess the harmony of your entire face rather than looking only at your teeth.
-
See whether they compare different options from an integrated perspective instead of recommending just one procedure.
-
Check whether they honestly explain the possibility of side effects after treatment.
Today, I would like to share some practical tips to consider when choosing a cosmetic dentist.

What should you look at before the photos?
If you choose a clinic based only on photos from social media or blog reviews, it can be difficult to use them as a reliable standard for your own face and teeth.
Even with the same treatment, results may vary from person to person because the original tooth color, gum line, and facial proportions are different for everyone.
I recommend viewing review photos only as reference material and first checking whether the consultation includes a direct assessment of your teeth and face.
Be cautious of places that recommend only one type of treatment.
Among those who come in saying, “I’m here to get veneers because I’m concerned about my front teeth,” some may actually be better suited for orthodontic treatment or teeth whitening after consultation.
If the cause is crooked teeth or malocclusion—the upper and lower teeth do not meet in the proper position—a treatment that only reshapes the visible appearance may not provide as much improvement as you hope for.
Rather than deciding on the name of a procedure first, we prioritize identifying the cause and determining which method is appropriate for your current condition.

Here are some useful questions to ask during your consultation.
Instead of simply asking, “Is this treatment right for me?” I recommend asking more specific questions.
For example: “What options are available for the condition of my teeth?” and “What side effects could occur?”
If the clinic examines your teeth directly and explains the reasons behind its recommendations, you will likely find the consultation results much easier to trust and understand.

Ultimately, what criteria should you use to choose?
Sensitivity, detachment, gum irritation, discoloration, and fractures may occur depending on the individual following cosmetic dental treatment.
I believe a practical criterion for choosing a clinic is whether it discusses these possibilities in advance without concealing them and whether it continues to provide follow-up care after treatment.
Rather than focusing on the clinic’s name or size, I recommend looking for a place where these processes are naturally addressed during the consultation.
I have always believed that cosmetic dentistry is not about simply making your teeth look attractive, but about providing an accurate diagnosis.
I prefer to tell patients when a treatment is unnecessary and to proceed carefully only as much as needed. In my experience, this is the way to achieve lasting satisfaction.
The choice is always yours.
Thank you for reading this long post.
