Hello, I am Kim Han-gyeol, the director of Smile View Dental Clinic.
Are you looking for an orthodontic clinic in Apgujeong with affordable prices?
I understand better than anyone the desire to achieve satisfying results at a reasonable cost.
However, orthodontic treatment is not a process that simply ends after attaching an appliance, so there are things you should check before considering the cost.
"The monthly payments are inexpensive, but could additional costs keep being added later?"
"The consultation was friendly, but what if a different doctor handles the actual treatment?"
Many of you have probably had concerns like these.
Especially in areas such as Apgujeong and Gangnam, it is natural to first notice phrases like “affordable orthodontic clinic prices” because of the perception that treatment costs are high.
However, orthodontic treatment is a long-term process that takes at least one to two years.
You should remember that the cost initially quoted may not include everything.
Today, rather than simply comparing price lists, I would like to honestly explain what you should check to choose a truly reasonable dental clinic, based on my 16 years of experience.

Checklist 1. What is included in the “total cost”?
The first thing to check is the transparency of the total cost.
Many people choose a clinic based only on the monthly installment or the appliance fee.
However, unexpected additional costs may arise during the actual orthodontic process.
-
Comprehensive diagnostic fee: The cost of examinations needed for an accurate treatment plan, including 3D CT scans, panoramic X-rays, and bite analysis
-
Extraction and miniscrew fees: Required when necessary to create space
-
Appliance reattachment fee: Charged if an appliance comes off
-
Monthly visit fee: The cost incurred for each monthly appointment
-
Retainer fee: The cost of the appliance used after orthodontic treatment to help prevent the teeth from shifting
You should carefully check whether all of these items are included in the cost initially quoted or billed separately.
Recently, someone came to see me and asked, “I don’t like the way my front teeth look. Should I get veneers?”
Rather than automatically recommending veneers, I diagnosed the patient’s overall facial harmony and bite, then explained that a more natural result could be achieved through limited orthodontic treatment.
As this example shows, more important than finding an orthodontic clinic with low prices is receiving an accurate diagnosis of your dental condition and establishing a transparent treatment plan suited to it.

Checklist 2. Does the director dentist personally take responsibility from consultation through follow-up care?
Orthodontic results can vary greatly depending on the doctor’s diagnosis and treatment plan.
For this reason, it is very important to know whether one primary doctor is responsible for everything from the initial consultation and diagnosis through treatment and follow-up care.
Sometimes a staff member conducts the consultation while a different medical professional provides the treatment.
However, the person who best understands a patient’s small habits, facial muscle movements, and desired smile shape is the primary doctor who has been with them from the beginning.
We have a patient who has consistently traveled by plane from Jeju Island to Smile View Dental Clinic.
To repay the trust of someone who comes to see me from so far away, I carefully coordinate the appointment schedule, examine the patient even more closely at every visit, and remember completing the treatment responsibly through the end.
It is good to look for an orthodontic clinic with affordable fees, but wouldn’t it be more important to find a primary doctor you can trust with your treatment over the long term?

Checklist 3. How can you protect your smile after treatment ends?
Many people think that treatment is completely finished once the orthodontic appliances are removed.
However, the completion of orthodontic treatment lies in retention and maintenance.
Because our teeth naturally tend to return to their original positions, it is essential to use retainers to maintain the alignment achieved through treatment.
When choosing a clinic, it is a good idea to check what type of retainer is used after orthodontic treatment, how the regular checkup program works, and how the clinic responds if a problem develops with the retainer.
This is an issue on a different level from simply looking for an orthodontic clinic with low prices.
Think of it as the process of confirming whether the clinic will manage your treatment responsibly through the very end, so that two years of effort do not go to waste.

Be sure to ask these questions during your consultation!
If you are unsure what questions to ask when visiting a dental clinic, use the following list of seven questions.
-
“I would like to know whether my condition can be treated with limited orthodontics.”
-
“Are the comprehensive examination and retainers included in the quoted cost?”
-
“If extraction or miniscrews are necessary, will there be an additional charge?”
-
“Will the cost change if treatment takes longer than the estimated period?”
-
“How will you manage my retainers after orthodontic treatment is complete?”
-
“How will the fees be settled if I discontinue treatment midway or move to another area?”
-
“Can I receive today’s treatment plan and cost estimate in writing?”
These questions can help you determine how transparently and systematically the clinic manages its patients.

Smile View’s approach to care: delivering value beyond the price
I provide care with the goal of creating a smile that looks natural and suits you, rather than teeth that look overly artificial.
My treatment philosophy is to listen to each patient’s story beyond the number represented by the cost and work toward the best possible result based on trust.
-
A connection built on trust, from Jeju Island to Gangnam: Although orthodontic treatment does not end with a single appointment, I have treated patients responsibly through the end and helped create beautiful smiles in appreciation of those who traveled a long distance and entrusted themselves to me.
-
Trust that began with an introduction from actor Donghyun Bae: A referral from someone a patient actually knows, rather than an advertisement, is the greatest compliment a doctor can receive. To repay that trust, I take time to communicate sufficiently with each patient during treatment.
-
The sincerity behind the question, “Should I get veneers?”: I do not recommend the same treatment to every patient.
Together, we consider ways to find the most natural beauty while preserving as much of the patient’s natural teeth as possible.
I sincerely hope that everyone reading this article finds a good dental clinic they can trust with their lifelong smile, rather than simply looking for an inexpensive orthodontic clinic.
