How to Choose an Affordable and Good Clinic for Eye Bag Repositioning Surgery Costs
Hello.
I’m Ban Hogyung, a board-certified plastic surgeon whose specialty is eye surgery and whose strongest skill is revision eye surgery.
"Are you angry?"
When the fat under the eyes becomes unevenly protruded, you not only look older than your actual age, but even on a day when you feel your best, you may still hear someone ask, "Why are you angry?"
At times like this, if the area under the eyes is improved and made flatter through eye bag repositioning, then at a reunion you attend after a long time, you may hear things like:
"What is it? Why do they look prettier?" "Why does he or she somehow look handsome?"

Because so many celebrities have talked on broadcast programs about their experiences after under-eye surgery, you probably already know a lot about the changes before and after surgery. That’s likely why you’re reading this article now.
But the problem is, there are so many clinics that perform eye bag surgery. So once you decide to have the surgery, it becomes hard to answer the question, “Which clinic should I choose, and how much should it cost?”
So, we prepared this.
For the concern of “Which clinic should I get it from, and at what price?”
A board-certified plastic surgeon specializing in eye surgery will clearly organize it for you.
Eye bag repositioning: what is a reasonable price?

There is no consumer reference price for eye bag repositioning surgery, so the price is basically whatever is asked.
As a result, costs vary widely by clinic, ranging from as low as 700,000 to 800,000 won to as high as 3.5 million won.
Then does a higher price mean better quality?
No. The quality of the surgical result and the cost have no correlation.
Choose the more affordable option if possible, depending on your budget.
Surgery fees are usually set based on the clinic’s fixed expenses and various other factors.
If the surgery cost is high, it may be because the clinic spends a lot on marketing, or because the operation is more difficult due to anesthesia-related issues, which makes the surgery longer and reduces the number of cases the clinic can handle per day, and so on.
So, in fact, a cheaper clinic may be more likely to be better at eye bag surgery.
Conversely, if a clinic has many referred patients and therefore does not need to spend much on marketing, and if it is good at anesthesia so the operation becomes easier, shorter, and allows more surgeries per day, then it may be able to charge a lower fee.
(I’ve been talking as if it were another clinic, but this is about our clinic. We also offer lower prices partly because we’d like you to refer more people.)

So the conclusion is that the cost of eye bag repositioning surgery has no relationship at all with the result.
As mentioned earlier, choose a clinic that fits your budget, and if possible, go to a cheaper one.
But of course, being cheap alone is not enough.
Naturally, you should have the surgery at a plastic surgery clinic that is good and affordable, or affordable and good. I’ll clearly organize the clinics that are good at eye bag surgery in the next section.
A clinic that is good and affordable, and affordable and good, for eye bag repositioning

Eye bag repositioning surgery cost: how to find a clinic that is good and affordable, or affordable and good
First, narrow it down to a few plastic surgery clinics where you can get eye bag surgery at a reasonable cost.
Then check just three things:
-
Anesthesia
-
Surgical method
-
Notification of side effects and how to respond to them
-
The importance of “accurate” anesthesia
First, why is anesthesia important? I gave you a hint in the previous section—do you remember?
Yes, that’s right. Only when anesthesia is “complete” and “accurate” does the surgery become easier, and patients can also undergo the procedure more comfortably.
The problem is that the area under the eyes is a rather difficult area to numb completely.
Compared to the upper eyelid, the area is broader and deeper, so it is hard to numb the entire region evenly and sufficiently.
As a result, there are quite a few cases where anesthesia is not performed accurately.
What if surgery proceeds without proper anesthesia?
Not only is it uncomfortable, it hurts. Then the surgeon also has to keep worrying about the patient’s discomfort during the procedure, which makes the same surgery more difficult and longer. (And because the patient moves more, bruising and swelling after surgery become more significant, which also lengthens recovery.)

On the other hand, if anesthesia is evenly and sufficiently applied under the eyes, then?
That’s right. Patients can have the surgery calmly and comfortably, and the surgeon can work much more easily as well. The surgeon can focus solely on the operation, the difficulty decreases, and the surgery can finish more quickly.
Then at this point, the question may come up:
“Then should I go to a plastic surgery clinic with an anesthesiologist?”
Clinics that need anesthesia staff are usually plastic surgery clinics that perform contouring or breast surgery.
Yes, that’s right. Those are surgeries that require general anesthesia. But eye surgery is performed under sedation rather than general anesthesia, so there is no need to hire an anesthesiologist at extra labor cost.
In other words, a plastic surgery clinic with on-site anesthesia staff is, first and foremost, not a clinic whose main focus is eye surgery. More importantly, if an anesthesiologist is on-site, the labor cost makes the surgery more expensive.
Then how do you find a clinic that does anesthesia well?
It’s simple. Check whether the board-certified plastic surgeon who will perform the surgery has separately learned anesthesia. Or ask directly during the consultation process.
Ask, “Is there any chance the anesthesia will wear off or not work well during the surgery?”

- Surgical method
"If I had known it was a one-year surgery, I never would have done it."
You may have often heard stories like this: someone trusted the idea of it being semi-permanent, had eye bag surgery, and then returned to their original state in less than a year.
Patients really do ask me a lot about how long the results of eye bag repositioning last.
And when I get that question, I answer like this:
"You probably won’t need revision surgery until before age 60."

Eye bag repositioning surgery costs should be cheap and good, and the surgical method must be checked.
Then why do different clinics use the same surgery name, “eye bag repositioning,” but the duration of results differs?
Because while the surgery name is the same, the surgical methods are different.
Generally, as people age, the amount of fat under the eyes gradually decreases, so when performing eye bag surgery, the fat should be preserved as much as possible rather than removed, and moved downward. Then, the septum should be tightened and reinforced to help prevent recurrence in advance.
But the problem is that the surgical process I just described is more difficult and troublesome than you might think.
So, in many cases, surgeons simply remove the protruding fat and finish there. It’s faster and easier.
The problem is not only that this does not secure a long-lasting result, but also that as fat decreases with age, the area under the eyes becomes hollow, making the face look harsher and, in fact, worse than before eye bag surgery.
You might think, “Wouldn’t it be enough to simply graft fat into the area?” But fat grafting itself is difficult in this area. There is no easy answer.
That is why eye bag surgery must be done properly from the start.
- Notification of side effects and how to respond to them

Every surgery has the downside of side effects.
Eye bag surgery is no exception.
If I describe a possible side effect after eye bag surgery in extreme terms, it is the possibility of blindness.
"Whaaaat??????????????"
If there is bleeding during surgery, it can be stopped immediately. But if bleeding occurs after you leave the clinic, it becomes dangerous. (A small amount of bleeding or oozing after surgery can simply be wiped away. No problem.)
If blood does not come out or flow outward but instead collects inside the surgical site, the pooled blood presses on the eyeball. If proper action is not taken quickly at that point, blindness can occur.
Then does that mean you have to risk your vision to get eye bag surgery?
That’s not the case. Blindness is the most extreme worst-case scenario.
And above all, it can be prevented.
If you have high blood pressure, manage it well. If you are taking medications or dietary supplements that prevent blood from clotting, stop taking them at least 1 week and up to 3 weeks before surgery.
Also, avoid taking a plane on the day of surgery and until the next day (lower surrounding air pressure can cause bleeding). And if you tend to get angry often, please control your temper for a few days. Oh, and showing off your strength is also not allowed. (A sudden rise in blood pressure can cause bleeding.)
If you follow these precautions well, you can prevent the extreme side effects that may occur after eye bag surgery.
Even so, if by some chance blood pools inside the surgical site against all odds, go to the nearest emergency room immediately. It can be treated with a fairly simple procedure: slightly opening the surgical area and draining the pooled blood. (Speed is important, so you should go to the nearest emergency room!)
But why tell you about an extreme side effect that can be prevented and is extremely unlikely to occur?
Because the probability is not 0%.
Most importantly, when a problem occurs, it is very important to take quick and accurate action. And to respond quickly, you need to know exactly what to do before a problem happens.
If you only start figuring out how to respond after the problem has already occurred and then panic, something truly serious can happen.
Today’s conclusion

-
The cost of eye bag repositioning surgery and the result have no correlation. A better clinic may actually charge less.
-
Choose a few clinics that fit your budget and are as affordable as possible, then check just these three things: accurate anesthesia, the surgical method, and notification of side effects and how to respond to them.
Today’s conclusion: cheap and good is what is truly good!
That’s why you can’t help but like me, this was Ban Hogyung.
