If you search for the prices of Thermage 300 shots and 600 shots, you’ll see that the prices vary quite a lot from clinic to clinic, right?

For 300 shots, the usual price is around 1 to 2 million won,

and for 600 shots, it is usually around 2 to 3 million won.

And there are often places that advertise prices much lower than those mentioned above. Personally, I think it’s best to get skin treatments at a reasonable place that fits your budget if possible.

However, if the price is excessively low, there may actually be several reasons for that. It could be fewer effective shots than what was treated, side effects, and other issues. So today, through this post, I’d like to talk about the factors you must check in order to get better-than-expected results within a reasonable price range.

As always, I’ll leave out abstract comments like “you should look at the doctor’s experience” or “you should check whether it is a 1:1 customized treatment,” and instead focus only on realistic points from actual clinical practice.

What to check when choosing a Thermage clinic

Why Thermage 300 shots prices vary so much

Earlier, I mentioned the approximate price range for Thermage 300 shots. I said it was about 1 to 2 million won. And sometimes, some clinics advertise prices that are much lower than 1 million won. Why is that? Are they simply taking a smaller margin?

Of course, the margin differs depending on each clinic director’s management principles. I wanted to create a clinic where “everyone can enjoy the right to become beautiful,” so I keep my margins low.

But in reality, Thermage cannot be priced below a certain level. That’s not only because the equipment itself is expensive, but also because of the tip.

The tip is a single-use consumable, and each tip is very expensive. When you add the equipment usage fee, clinic operating costs, and the medical staff’s treatment fee, a treatment under 1 million won for 300 shots is practically impossible. If a clinic is unusually cheap despite that, you should reasonably suspect whether they are using illegal tips.

Why illegal tip use is a problem

Thermage is a procedure that must deliver radiofrequency (RF) thermal energy accurately and evenly into the dermis layer of the skin in order to achieve collagen regeneration effects. Illegal tips are counterfeit parts.

And all harm caused by the use of illegal tips is passed on to the patient.

Radiofrequency energy cannot be delivered evenly to the skin; some areas may not react at all, while other areas receive excessive heat stimulation, which can cause burns, redness, reduced skin elasticity, and in severe cases, repeated inflammation.

So if the cost of Thermage is excessively low, you should make a reasonable suspicion. Whether genuine tips are being used, or whether disposable tips are being reused.

Then what should you check? That’s right. Before the procedure, you should check whether the genuine tip is opened in front of the patient.

2. Is 300 shots enough to provide a lifting effect? 300 shots can be enough to see results. But there is one important condition: it should not be thought of as evenly covering the entire face. It must be performed by focusing on areas that truly need lifting.

Why is that? To contract the collagen fibers in the skin and trigger a remodeling response, the temperature inside the skin must first be raised to over 55°C. So the first few shots are used to warm up the inside of the skin. After the skin is sufficiently heated, the shots delivered afterward are the effective shots that create actual lifting effects.

So among 300 shots, some are used for temperature buildup, and the rest are the effective shots that actually trigger a response. What happens if you spread 300 shots evenly across the entire face? Right—it may end up being just warming up. So with 300 shots, you need to focus and prioritize.

That means you should focus on skin concerns that make you look older, such as the double chin, jawline, jowls, and nasolabial folds. Of course, at this time, the energy intensity, repeated overlap, and shot distribution ratio should all vary depending on skin thickness and the degree of aging.

If you want a tightening effect across the entire face, then around 600 shots is appropriate. If you want to include the neck as well, then 900 shots is suitable.

So 300 shots should be seen as partial lifting. If you focus well on specific concern areas—such as the double chin, jawline, or nasolabial folds—you can still achieve meaningful results even if it is not a full-face procedure. Also, for people in their mid-to-late 40s and older, since skin elasticity has declined and the degree of aging is greater, it is better to consider 600 shots or more.

Why the same number of shots can differ in effectiveness by up to 2x depending on how they are delivered Even if the same 300 shots are delivered intensively to the lower face, the results can still differ. The reason is skin resistance value (impedance). Simply put, skin impedance is the number that determines how well the skin accepts radiofrequency energy.

With radiofrequency, the greater the resistance encountered as it passes through the skin, the more the energy disperses at the skin surface, and the less heat reaches the dermis, which is the key target area. As a result, even if enough shots were delivered, collagen remodeling may not actually occur inside the skin.

On the other hand, if impedance is lowered, much more heat is delivered deep into the skin even with the same number of shots, and the collagen response becomes stronger, resulting in a greater lifting effect. In simple terms, you could receive 300 shots but get a result as if you had received 500 shots. That is why our clinic always performs a certain type of care before Thermage treatment.

4. Is there a more cost-effective treatment than Thermage?

If you’re looking for a cost-effective Thermage alternative? That’s right—there is Oligio, often called the Korean version of Thermage. Oligio is indeed cheaper compared to Thermage. For 300 shots, Oligio costs about 400,000 to 600,000 won, which is about half to one-third the price of Thermage.

However, there are significant differences in output level, delivery method, and duration of effect. So it’s difficult to judge it as a cost-effective treatment based on price alone. The effectiveness of radiofrequency lifting depends on how strongly and stably energy can be delivered to the target depth.

Among existing radiofrequency lifting devices, Thermage has the most powerful output and can steadily accumulate energy at a consistent speed. That is why even a single treatment can generate a large amount of collagen and produce a noticeable lifting effect.

On the other hand, Oligio’s output is lower than Thermage’s, and its energy density is somewhat insufficient to accumulate thermal stimulation sufficiently. Put simply, even if the energy reaches the same depth, Thermage is a device that can create a much stronger and longer-lasting response. That is why Thermage’s effects typically last about one year after a single treatment, while Oligio should be thought of as lasting about 4 to 6 months.

In other words, if you only look at the cost of a single treatment, Oligio is much cheaper, but if you compare results and duration of effect, it is difficult to say that it is a much more cost-effective treatment.

As I mentioned earlier, I also believe treatment costs should be as affordable and reasonable as possible.

But if a treatment like Thermage—which has an expensive device and high consumable costs—is offered at an unusually low price, it is worth being a little suspicious. Whether genuine tips are being used, whether disposable tips are being reused, or whether fewer shots were actually delivered than stated. These factors can affect not only the results but also skin safety, so you must check them carefully.

So when choosing Thermage, rather than looking only at the price, I recommend checking whether it is being delivered properly to the areas that truly need it, and whether it is being performed in a trustworthy way. In the end, even for the same procedure, the results can vary completely depending on how accurately and properly it is done.
