Celebrity-Style Lateral Canthoplasty
Hello,
More than 50% of our visiting patients come through referrals,
and we have performed more than 2,000 cumulative surgeries for existing referred patients.
We are VANNI Plastic Surgery, committed to providing proper and honest medical care.
Many people say they want to create a refreshing, celebrity-like eye shape.
One of the procedures often mentioned in that context is lateral canthoplasty.
However, in reality, it is difficult to achieve the desired look with lateral canthoplasty alone.
Factors such as the length and height of the eyes, eyelid thickness, whether ptosis is present,
and the degree of the epicanthal fold all need to be considered together
in order to create a clear impression without looking unnatural.
The celebrity-style lateral canthoplasty case we are showing today
was not performed as a simple lateral canthoplasty alone,
but as a combined procedure including incisional blepharoplasty, ptosis correction, upper epicanthoplasty, and lower lateral canthoplasty.
When a customized design is made by comprehensively evaluating the eye structure and conditions,
a clear yet natural eye shape can be completed from immediately after surgery.
If you are considering eye-widening surgery, please refer to today’s post.

Celebrity-Style Lateral Canthoplasty,
The Key Procedure for Extending the Horizontal Length of the Eyes
Lateral canthoplasty is a method that extends the horizontal length of the eyes by incising the outer corners.
It is not simply a matter of making an incision; by carefully adjusting the conjunctiva inside the skin and the surrounding tissues,
the distance between the iris and the outer corner of the eye can be widened, making the eyes look more open and refreshing.
The problem arises when the surgery is performed incorrectly.
Excessive incision or inaccurate fixation can, over time,
lead to side effects such as re-adhesion, changes in eyelash direction, and conjunctival exposure.
Therefore, celebrity-style lateral canthoplasty is not about making a larger incision,
but about making delicate adjustments while considering each individual’s pupil size, scleral show, and the angle of the outer corner of the eye.
At VANNI Plastic Surgery, we use a “Banjak Tteum” technique that includes lateral canthoplasty.
By combining front, back, upper, and lower eye widening procedures,
we improve both the length and height of the overall eye shape at the same time,
and design the eyes so that large, round eyes can be achieved without three-white-eye appearance or unnatural exposure.
The Reason for Performing Multiple Procedures Together
Photographed in May 2025
The before-and-after photos above are of the same patient,
taken under identical conditions at our VANNI Plastic Surgery.
Side effects (inflammatory reactions) may occur after the procedure,
so please make your decision after a proper consultation with the medical team.
The patient in the photo had thick eyelids and ptosis,
so it was a case in which a refreshing impression would have been difficult to create with lateral canthoplasty alone.
First, incisional double-eyelid surgery was performed to clearly define the double-eyelid line,
and ptosis correction was done so that the iris would be clearly visible.
In addition, upper epicanthoplasty was used to relieve the heaviness at the inner corners of the eyes,
and lower lateral canthoplasty was combined to improve both the vertical and horizontal dimensions at the same time.
As a result, the eyes became overall larger while maintaining a soft and rounded shape without a sharp or angular feeling.
In particular, the combination of lateral canthoplasty and lower lateral canthoplasty allows horizontal widening and adjustment of the lower eyelid line at the same time,
so even in cases where the outer corners of the eyes are slanted upward, they can be corrected naturally.
Celebrity-Style Lateral Canthoplasty
Advantages of Banjak Tteum
It is not about simply making the eyes bigger.
By comprehensively considering pupil size, the shape of the epicanthal fold, and the degree of scleral show,
the eyes can retain a natural smiling look even after surgery.
- Minimized scarring and swelling
Fine incisions and internal suturing reduce the possibility of scarring and minimize swelling and bruising.
In most cases, daily life can be resumed within 1 to 2 weeks.
To reduce side effects such as conjunctival edema, eyelash loss, and re-adhesion,
fascia fixation and delicate tissue handling are performed together.
Recovery Process and Care Methods
After eye-widening surgery, swelling and slight bruising may occur,
but with consistent use of cold compresses and prescribed medication, they usually improve significantly within 1 to 2 weeks.
After about 3 months, the incision line settles more softly and the line becomes more natural.
During the recovery period, it is best to avoid rubbing the eyes strongly
and to stay away from high-temperature, high-humidity environments such as saunas and swimming pools.
We also recommend using artificial tears to prevent dryness at the surgical site.

Celebrity-Style Lateral Canthoplasty at VANNI Plastic Surgery
At VANNI Plastic Surgery, all eye-widening procedures are personally handled by a board-certified plastic surgeon,

Our goal in celebrity-style lateral canthoplasty is not simply to make the eyes larger,
but to create an eye shape that looks soft and bright even from a distance.
If you want a natural and refreshing eye shape,
we recommend receiving an accurate diagnosis of the method that suits you best through a consultation.
We will be with you from finding the design that best suits your eyes to recovery.
